What is a Mobile Wallet?

A Mobile Wallet is an app on your smartphone that allows you to load your American Express Card to your device – by scanning your physical Card and following the prompts. Once loaded, it’s in your Mobile Wallet. So if you leave home without your wallet, you can still pay using your phone.

Benefits of paying with your mobile

Paying with your mobile is fast and easy – and it’s safer than using a physical Credit Card. Your Card details are never saved to the phone, rather a unique device number is assigned to your Account which allows you to make payments. When you pay with your device, a one-use token is sent to the Merchant, which cannot be used for any other payment or amount. Most devices also require you to authorise each payment by fingerprint recognition or a passcode, increasing the security of a transaction.
