Applying for The American Express Airpoints Card

A Credit Card gives you a line of credit that you can use to make purchases.

 

To avoid paying interest, you need to pay back the closing balance in full at the end of your statement period. There are other fees and charges that apply, which are outlined on our website.

THE AMERICAN EXPRESS AIRPOINTS CREDIT CARD

Account fee for additional Card Members $0 for up to four Supplementary Cards issued on your Account.
Purchase interest rate

0% p.a. Introductory Rate for six months from the date of the first Charge, reverting to the Standard Rate for Purchases.


22.95% p.a. Standard Rate applies after the introductory rate.


Interest free period of up to 55 days.

Getting started:

 

To be eligible to apply for a Credit Card online you must:

 

✓ Be aged 18 years of age or over

✓ Have a good credit history

✓ Be a permanent resident/citizen of New Zealand

✓ If Self Employed, you have been trading for at least 18 months or 12 months if you hold an existing American Express issued Card.

 

If you already have a Credit Card you can apply to change your credit limit on your Credit Card Account page.

 

Here's the information we'll need from you:

 

  • A copy of your government issued identification (for example driver’s license or passport)
  • Personal information, including your current address details
  • A current email address and a mobile or landline number
  • Details about any other Credit Cards and loans you have and their balances
  • Financial information including:
    • proof of your annual income and employment details (e.g. Inland Revenue Department (IRD) Statement, payslips)
    • household income (if married/de facto)
    • monthly living expenses,
    • superannuation details (if retired)
    • Details of any other sources of income.

This application will take 10-15 minutes to complete.
