Liz Wright is focused on building systems that can scale with her growing business, bringing consistency to processes and increasing control. The company’s legacy financial systems weren’t built to keep up with its momentum. Adopting the American Express® Corporate Program helped bring clarity to LucidHealth’s financial operations.

Real American Express Card Member aware that this testimonial may be featured in marketing materials.

Managing the finances of a growing network of radiology practices means keeping a lot of moving parts in sync, without losing sight of the bigger picture.

“What my job really entails is translating our accounting information to data that everybody can use,” says Elizabeth Wright, Vice President of Finance at LucidHealth. “And my calendar can get a little out of control.” She spends long hours reviewing even longer spreadsheets, working to keep thing simple across a complex organization. Her responsibilities span reporting, budgeting, and performance across nearly 300 imaging centers and hospitals.

Early on, Wright realized that the company’s legacy financial systems weren’t built to keep up with its momentum.

“In healthcare especially, cash flow is really important,” she says. “We're rendering services today for which we may not receive payment for 90 days. It's important for us to find tools to help us manage.”

What she needed was structure. By adopting the American Express® Corporate Program – including American Express® Corporate Cards, American Express One AP®1, and Virtual Cards On-Demand – Wright says she found a way to bring control and clarity to LucidHealth’s financial operations.

“American Express really helps us streamline our process,” she says. “It’s a no-brainer.”

American Express® Corporate Cards: Bringing clarity to complexity

When Wright joined LucidHealth, she says corporate cards were already in use, but often without a clear system behind them.

“It was a ‘set it and forget it’ thing for us,” she recalls. Cards had been issued years earlier, often without consistent oversight across the organization’s multiple practices and subsidiaries.

By implementing American Express® Corporate Green Cards2, Wright set out to reorganize the program from the ground up. She reassigned Corporate Cards to the right people, aligning accounts to the company’s structure, and introducing consistent spending controls. “I’ve gone in and set up everybody’s limits,” she says.

The impact was immediate. With clearer visibility into spending across the network, Wright gained a more complete and real-time understanding of how money was moving.

“I’m constantly checking,” she says. “Looking at usage, looking at available credit.”

That structure has also unlocked additional value. LucidHealth has enrolled in the Corporate Membership Rewards® Program3, enabling LucidHealth to earn Membership Rewards® points at the corporate level for redemption on employees’ purchases.

Wright says she and her team have put these points to use in other ways, too.

“We’re able to redeem some points for holiday gift cards for employees who are going above and beyond,” she says. Such rewards help bring coworkers together, fostering a positive team culture within the company.

American Express One AP®: A smart way to manage business payments

If Corporate Cards have helped bring order and rewards to spending, American Express One AP has transformed how LucidHealth approaches payments.*

The automated accounts payable platform allows the business to pay vendors and suppliers by Virtual Card, check, or ACH, all within existing workflows.** For Wright, it’s become a regular part of day-to-day operations, helping streamline expense management without adding complexity.

“In outpatient radiology, we have a significant amount of spend,” she explains. “We're paying rent, we're paying utilities, we're paying all sorts of medical supplies.”

“One AP is very seamless,” she continues. “It doesn’t create more work. It’s just like another method of payment.”

      * Enrollment required and fees may apply (including an auto-renewing monthly platform access fee). Suppliers must be enrolled and located in the United States. Please contact your American Express® Specialist to learn more.
** Fees apply for check/ACH (including an auto-renewing monthly platform access fee). No fee for Virtual Cards.

Virtual Cards On-Demand: Control, visibility, and added security

Through One AP, LucidHealth also uses American Express® Virtual Cards On-Demand to pay vendors. These Virtual Cards offer single-use, multi-use and reloadable options that create visibility into supplier payments and spending by project or category.1

Users can set specific controls for each Virtual Card On-Demand, including spending limits and expiration dates, or leave reloadable Virtual Cards on file with suppliers for recurring bills or subscriptions. Virtual Cards also allow businesses to make payments without sharing physical card details, all while earning the rewards of their Card.4

For Wright, they are especially useful for single-use transactions. “I love the additional layer of security they provide,” she says. “We can generate card numbers for one-time use that we can use to pay our vendors securely and efficiently.”

Instead of relying on a single Corporate Card number across multiple vendors, her team can create a unique Virtual Card number for specific transactions, limiting the exposure of their primary Card number. (“I don't have to worry about someone having it written down on a sticky note,” she quips.)

That shift brings more than peace of mind. Virtual Cards On-Demand make it easy for Wright to control spending and have visibility into her supplier payments.

      Looking ahead with confidence

As LucidHealth continues to grow, Wright remains focused on building systems that can scale with the company, bringing consistency to processes and greater control to the business.

That evolution is increasingly tied to the American Express® Corporate Program. “I would love to get to a place where we pay only using One AP,” she says.

But beyond the tools, it's the backing that stands out. American Express has been with LucidHealth “every step of the way,” she says – the kind of support that matters in an industry centered on care.

“Healthcare is all about taking care of people,” she observes. “And that’s what American Express does for us.”
