Documents To Gather
Typically, American Express will require a combination of the following financial documents when assessing a business’ spending needs. Audited financial statements are preferred.
Have questions? Review the FAQ’s.
We are requesting your financial documents to help better understand your company and will use that information, along with other internal and external data, to determine how we can best support your business’ spending needs.
Please refer to the communications you have received or call the Toll-Free numbers: Business accounts at 888-290-6418 or Corporate accounts at 800-643-8427. You may have received an email from AmericanExpress@welcome.americanexpress.com that includes instructions on how to provide financial documents. Please check your spam folder if you have not received it.
As a responsible lender, we will need your most recent financial documents to complete our review. Failure to respond by the deadline can lead to:
- Declined charges.
- The addition of a limit, if your company doesn’t already have one, or reduction of your company’s existing limit.
- Your request being canceled for company-initiated reviews.
The underwriting process usually takes a few days, but in some cases can take up to several weeks. The length of the credit underwriting process depends on several factors, such as internal and external data, your requested spend amount, and the size of the commercial business.
We periodically request financial documents from our customers to ensure we are meeting their business’ spending needs.
The information will only be shared with American Express’s employees or agents who need to know this information. These employees or agents are bound to strict confidentiality requirements.
