If you’re a seasoned traveler, you know how rejuvenating it can be to escape from the airport bustle before a flight. The Delta Sky Club® can be that rejuvenating airport lounge space to recharge, shower, and rest up before you board. You can gain Delta Sky Club access in a few ways, and we’ll explore them all.
How to Gain Delta Sky Club Lounge Access
Whether you rise up Delta Medallion® Status Tiers, purchase a Sky Club membership directly as a Medallion Member®, or become a Delta SkyMiles® American Express Card Member, you have options for accessing the Sky Club on your next journey.
The Medallion Diamond Tier Route
Delta rewards its most loyal flyers through the SkyMiles Program, and when you join, you can earn one Medallion Qualification Dollar (MQD) for every $1 you spend on Delta and Delta partner tickets, getting you that much closer to Medallion Status and the Sky Club.2 This excludes Delta Main Basic tickets; terms and conditions apply.
Each of the four Medallion Tiers corresponds to a certain number of MQDs annually:3
- Silver: You earned $5,000 MQDs in one year.
- Gold: You earned $10,000 MQDs in one year.
- Platinum: You earned $15, 000 MQDs in one year.
- Diamond: You earned $28,000 MQDs in one year.
Reaching the Silver Tier makes you a Medallion Member, and achieving the Diamond Tier gives you access to the Sky Club.
The Delta One® or SkyTeam Premium Cabin Route For Medallion Members
As a Medallion Member, you may be upgraded to Delta One, Delta Premium Select, or SkyTeam premium cabins. Delta One is Delta’s most premium cabin type, with chef-curated dishes, sommelier-selected wines, lie-flat seats, and luxury amenities. When you fly with participating Delta partners, you could be upgraded to a SkyTeam Premium cabin (the partner airline’s luxury section).
When you receive a qualifying upgrade on eligible same-day domestic or international flights, you may be able to access the Sky Club. Terms and conditions apply.4
The Delta Sky Club Annual Membership Route
You may not have to cross your fingers for an upgrade. Sky Club access is also open to Medallion Members who belong to Silver, Gold, and Platinum Medallion Tiers when they purchase a Sky Club annual membership.
You can opt for one of two memberships:5
- Individual membership: With a one-year rate of $695 or 69,500 miles, you can access Sky Club with up to two extra guests (or your spouse/domestic partner and children under 21) for an additional fee per visit per guest.
- Executive membership: With a one-year rate of $1,495 or 149,500 miles, you can access Sky Club with up to two guests (or your spouse/domestic partner and children under 21) per visit.
The American Express Credit Card Route
Another possible path to a relaxing break between flights: American Express offers the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Card, which can fast-track you to Sky Club access, and the Delta SkyMiles® American Express Reserve Card, which unlocks full access.
Here’s how:
- Delta SkyMiles Platinum Card:6 Card Members get an MQD Headstart, receiving $2,500 MQD each Medallion Qualification Year and getting closer to elevated Status for the next Medallion® Year. Terms Apply.
SkyMiles Platinum Card Members can also take advantage of the Card's MQD Boost, letting them earn $1 MQD for each $20 in purchases on their Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card in a calendar year, getting them closer to Medallion Status for the next Medallion Year quicker. Terms Apply. - Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card: Card Members enjoy 15 Visits each Medallion® Year to the Delta Sky Club® when flying Delta and can unlock Unlimited Delta Sky Club Access after spending $75,000 in purchases on their Card during a calendar year. Terms apply.
On top of Sky Club access, these are just some of the other benefits the Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card offers:7
- Companion Certificate: Enjoy a Companion Certificate on a Delta First, Delta Comfort, or Delta Main round-trip flight within the U.S. and to Mexico, the Caribbean, or Central America each year after renewal of your Card. Baggage charges and other restrictions apply. Delta Basic experiences are not eligible for this benefit.
- MQD Headstart & MQD Boost: Get closer to premium Status faster.
- Complimentary Access to the Centurion Lounge: Enjoy complimentary access to The Centurion® Lounge when you book your Delta flight with your Reserve Card. Terms Apply.
- $120 Rideshare Credit: Get rewarded to and from the airport. Earn up to $10 in statement credits each month after using your Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card on U.S. rideshare purchases with select providers. That's up to $120 back each year. Enrollment required. Terms Apply.

Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card Members with an eligible ticket will be added to the Complimentary Upgrade List, after Delta SkyMiles Medallion Members. The Card Member must be flying on a Delta-operated flight to receive this benefit and may receive upgrade priority over others with the same Medallion Tier, purchased product and fare class, and Million Miler status.
