Note that Additional Cards are also known as Supplementary Cards. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over with a permanent UK address, and is subject to approval. If approved, you (the primary Cardmember) will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember.
Can I apply for any American Express® Card to be my additional Card?
You can only apply for the same additional Card as your primary Card Account.
Do my additional Cardmembers need to activate their Card?
Once received, additional Cardmembers need to activate their Card by creating their own unique login at americanexpress.com/uk/activate and register for Online Services to be able to manage their Card (online or via the Amex® App).
How will my additional Cardmembers receive their Card?
The additional Card will be delivered to the primary Cardmember via post, within 3-5 business days of the application being approved.
Can my additional Cardmembers collect Avios?
All Avios collected from the spend made by additional Cardmembers will be directly credited to the primary Cardmember’s Account. Both the primary and additional Cardmembers will collect Avios at the same rate.
Who is responsible for the spend (and payment) of my additional Cards?
The primary Cardmember is liable for payment of all spend made by additional Cardmembers.
How can I check the balance of an additional Card?
You can check the balance of your additional Cards anytime via your Online Account, or on your monthly statement. All spend made by additional Cardmembers will be clearly stated on your statement and Online Account.
How does my additional Card use Amex Offers?
Your Supplementary Cardmember will have access to the Amex Offers programme. In order for them to use an Offer, they (Supplementary Cardmember) must save the Offer to their own Card. To do this, they can go to the American Express® App, find an offer in the Offers tab and click "Save to Card." For more information, please visit 13.
