You can place an airfare purchase with Amex Travel in a plan at checkout by selecting “Monthly Installments with Plan It” as your payment method on AmexTravel.com.
After using Plan It at checkout, your plan will typically be set up on your account within 48 hours of the purchase but may take up to 5 days. If the merchant submits your purchase in separate amounts, you will have multiple plans created on your account. The plans will not exceed the plan amount selected at checkout. To view or manage your plan, please log into your online account.
You will be offered 1 - 3 plan options for a qualifying purchase. The plan duration options can vary based on a variety of factors such as the purchase amount, your account history, and your creditworthiness. The plan durations that you see on AmexTravel.com may be different from the ones that are offered to you when planning the same purchase using your online account or American Express® App.
Plan It and Pay with Points
You cannot use Pay with Points and Plan It together during checkout on AmexTravel.com. If you wish to Pay with Points and also plan the charge, you may be able to create a plan for your trip once the transaction posts to your account, by visiting your online account or American Express® App.
Trip Changes and Cancellations
If you receive a refund/credit for your trip, the amount can be requested to be applied to your plan balance. Once you see the credit on your account, please call the number on the back of your card to speak with a Plan It Specialist to have the amount applied to the plan balance. If you make a change to your trip, your plan will not be impacted.
