Sydney is hosting WorldPride 2023 from 17 February to 5 March, with American Express as the Principal Partner. It’s the first time this event has been held in the southern hemisphere, and coincides with the world-renowned Sydney Mardi Gras Parade, which is returning to Oxford Street for the first time in three years.

 

For 17 glorious days, you’ll have the opportunity to pick from more than 300 free and ticketed events that celebrate the diversity of the LBBTQIA+ community. From dance to art, Sydney WorldPride captures plenty of fun and entertaining ways to express yourself, and everyone’s invited.

Apart from the Sydney WorldPride Opening Concert, The Mardi Gras Parade and Domain Dance Party which has just happened last week, here are 7 things to highlight to help you get the most out of this fantastic event:

 

1. The Veronicas Live at Amex House1

Tuesday, 28 February 2023

Amex House at The Oxford Hotel, 134 Oxford St, Darlinghurst

During WorldPride, Amex House on Oxford Street is a place to connect with everyone from proud locals to friendly international visitors. And on Tuesday, 28 February, it’ll play host to an exclusive live performance by The Veronicas, plus express makeovers by MECCA MAX, DJ sets and Drag Bingo.

 

2. Blak & Deadly: The First Nations Gala Concert

Thursday, 2 March 2023, 7pm – 9pm, Sydney Opera House

This is the only official WorldPride 2023 event to be held at Sydney’s famous Opera House and it’s sure to be a must-see. Hosted by comedian Steven Oliver and including stars like Jessica Mauboy, Casey Donovan and Deborah Cheetham Fraillon AO, this night will be a celebration of the country’s past, present and future.

 

3. Ultra Violet

Friday, 3 March 2023, 5pm – 1am, Town Hall

The iconic space of Town Hall will be transformed into a premier party for LGBTQIA+ women. Featuring an enviable line-up up of DJs and performers, this event will have it all – burlesque, performance and visual art, cabaret and drag kings.

 

4. Amex Shop Small Village

Saturday, 4 March 2023 – Sunday, 5 March 2023, Oxford St

The beating heart of Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ district will close to traffic, creating a pedestrian-friendly centre, filled with love and good vibes. A selection of fantastic small businesses will feature at the Amex Shop Small Village on Oxford Street, allowing you to get a retail fix during this great festival.

 

And on the final weekend of Sydney WorldPride 2023, The American Express Oxford Street Stage will also play host to a vibrant street party.

5. Bondi Beach Party

Saturday, 4 March 2023, 3pm – 10pm

When you combine the golden sands of Australia’s most famous beach with a line-up of awesome DJs, plus global popstar Nicole Scherzinger, you could say it’s the perfect mix for a great party. But when you add 12,000 revellers, it becomes an event like no other. This is the ultimate celebration of being loud and proud.

 

6. Pride March

Sunday, 5 March 2023, 7am – 10am, The Sydney Harbour Bridge

This momentous event will see 50,000 people march across Sydney Harbour Bridge while wearing their brightest colours, to take a stand for LGBTQIA+ people around the world, and to celebrate diversity.

 

Participants were selected via free ballot earlier this year, and it’s bound to be a great spectacle.

 

7. Queer Screen

Wednesday, 15 February to Thursday, 2 March 2023, Various locations

It’s Queer Screen’s 30th Mardi Gras Film Festival, with a range of fantastic films that explore and celebrate LGBTQIA+ inclusion. The movies will be showing in various cinemas and On Demand.
