How do I change or unlock my PIN?

You can change or unlock your PIN quickly and securely using the American Express® App or your Online Account.

 

Changing your PIN

 

Changing your PIN using Online Services:

 Log in to your American Express® Account and follow the next steps:

  • Select the Account Management tab
  • Select “Change PIN”
  • If you need a reminder, choose “View PIN” first, and then the “Change PIN” option will appear.

Changing your PIN using American Express App:

  • Select the Account Management tab 
  • Select “Manage Card PIN”
  • Select “Change PIN”.
  • Follow the security steps to complete the process.

Please note, you must complete one Chip & PIN transaction with your old PIN before the new PIN becomes active.

 

Unlocking your PIN

If your PIN is positively locked, you’ll see an Unlock PIN option in your Amex® App or Online Account.

 

Unlocking your PIN using Online Services:

Log in to your American Express Account and follow the next steps:

  • Select “View PIN” and answer the security questions.
  • A banner will confirm if your PIN is locked, click “Unlock PIN”
  • PIN will be available again after your next Chip & PIN transaction.

Unlocking your PIN using American Express App:

  • Select the Account Management tab
  • Select “Manage Card PIN”
  • Select “Unlock PIN” and follow the security steps. Once unlocked, you can view or change it if needed.

 

How often can I change my PIN?

There are no limits on how many times you can change your PIN.
