How do I close or cancel my American Express® Card Account?

If you no longer wish to keep your American Express Card, you can request to close your Account at any time. Before doing so, please ensure:

• Any outstanding balances are paid.
• Any pending transactions have been processed.
• You have redeemed any Membership Rewards® points, as they may be forfeited once the Account is closed.

If your Card has an annual fee, you may be eligible for a pro-rata refund based on your Account usage. Once your Account is closed, you should destroy all Cards linked to it.

To proceed with closing your Account, please call the Customer Service number on the back of your Card.
