How do I activate, deactivate, and manage the American Express® App?
The American Express® App provides secure, on the go access to your Account, offering key features tailored for mobile use.
Getting Started & Logging In
To use the American Express App, you will need to read and accept the End User License Agreement. This will appear when you first launch the app.
Your User ID and password are the same ones you use to access Online Services here. Your User ID is not your email address.
The system allows three attempts to enter the correct User ID and password before it locks the account. If the Account is locked, call the number on the back of your Card for assistance.
If you have forgotten your User ID and/or password, tap on 'Forgot password' on the App's pre-login screen. You will then be taken to a web page where you can begin the process in retrieving your details.
After five minutes of inactivity, your session will time out. You will need to log back in to resume activity.
Key Features & Availability
- The App mirrors features from americanexpress.co.uk but is optimised for mobile.
- Dark Mode is available and will follow your device settings.
- The UK version supports UK issued Cards, but you can access it abroad (roaming fees may apply).
Security & Account Protection
- The App uses end to end encryption, but network security depends on your provider.
- Set up Touch/Face ID or a passcode on your device for added protection.
- Sessions time out after five minutes of inactivity for security.
