Overview of our data protection practices:
This section provides a simple overview of our existing data protection practices to help you gain more control over the data we have about you.
Need more details? Our existing Online Privacy Statement can be accessed with just one click.
Since our founding in 1850, our customers have trusted us, and we strive to protect your privacy and security.
It's just one more way to protect yourself.
You can set your preferences and manage them easily at any time by logging into your Card Account under "Your settings", then "Your communication choices". If you do not yet have an online account, you can easily create one on our American Express website at the following address: https://www.americanexpress.com/nl-nl/ (choose from the menu 'Customer Service' or 'Login' then 'Create your online account'). This way you will be able to define:
- How you want us to communicate with you, by phone, post or email; or
- The types of messages you would like to receive from us.
Under this heading, you will find information about the specific rights you may have over the data we hold about you.
You can find out more about data rights here.

We may collect data in three ways:
- You sometimes provide data to us directly, by registering for our products and services.
- When you use our website and app, or your American Express card for everyday purchases.
- We may also obtain publicly available data about you (e.g. data from databases or online platforms).
To learn more about how we collect data, please read our Privacy Statements.
We may use the data to offer you products and provide you with services that are relevant to you. The data allows us to conduct research and analysis to improve your offline and online experiences.
We may also use the data to optimize security, prevent and manage fraud on your account, and assess credit risks to our business.
