Why we need up-to-date information
As a Financial Institution, we have an obligation to keep our Card Members’ personal information up to date and check it regularly. This helps us to comply with our Know Your Customer (KYC) obligations, to prevent money laundering and terrorism financing in accordance with the AML (Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Regulation), thereby contributing to a safer society.

Periodically, we will contact you and request that you review (and if needed update) your details. You will automatically receive notifications via your American Express Online Account, the American Express® App, via email or by mail.

What we might ask you for
Home address
Please check that the address shown is also the address where you currently live. It is important that your address details are correct. If necessary, please update the details.
Identification
Please check that your legal name, date of birth and nationality are captured accurately. If necessary, please update the details.
Supporting documentation
If your information has changed, you will be asked to provide the document(s) referenced below:
- Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident:
- National Registration Identity Card (NRIC)*
- Non-Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident:
- Passport (with more than six months’ validity) or;
- Household bills with name and address e.g. electricity, telephone, internet, gas, or water bill (dated within last three months) or;
- Bank statement with name and address (dated within last three months) or;
- Correspondence from Government Agency with name and address (dated within last three months)

Frequently asked questions
As a Financial Institution, we are legally obligated to keep our customers’ personal information up to date and check it regularly. This is in line with our ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) regulatory requirements. It also helps us to protect your Account and ensure you get the most from our products and services. We are contacting Card Members via their Online Account or in the American Express® App. Card Members who do not regularly log in or do not have an Online Account will be sent an email or a letter and be asked to log in to update their information.
If we need documentation, you will be asked to upload it securely by following the instructions provided in your Online Account.
While you will be able to continue using your Card(s) & enjoy all the benefits that it brings, the information we have about you will not be updated. This means that you may not receive a servicing letter that we may send from time to time pertaining to updates about your Card terms, for example, if the home address we have in our record is outdated.
Yes, if additional information or documentation is required or if the provided documentation is incomplete or illegible, we will contact you again to request this information.
Once we have verified your details you will receive a communication to confirm your information has been successfully updated.
If we need information from your Supplementary Card Member(s), we will contact them directly. Please ensure all Supplementary Card Members under your Account regularly check and keep their personal information up to date. We advise Supplementary Card Members to set up their Online Account or download the American Express App® as well.
You should ensure personal details are always kept up to date. In case of any changes, you can update your information either through Account Management in your Online Account or contact us via chat services or call the phone number on the back of your Card.
