Google PayTM - Frequently Asked Questions
About Google Pay
As used by American Express in these Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), “Google Pay” is the Google service that allows Card Members to make in store, in-app, and online payments where Google Pay is accepted using an eligible American Express Credit or Debit Card or a virtual account number associated with an eligible American Express account (each a “Card”).
“Google Wallet” is the Google service that allows you to add a digital version of an eligible Card to the Google Wallet app on devices supported by Google.

You can also use Google Pay in participating merchant apps with supported devices. Check for the "Google Pay" or ''Buy with GPay'' button at checkout within the apps. For a list of where you can pay with Google Pay, visit Google Support.

We won’t share your full account information with Google. To deliver the best Google Pay experience, we’ll share certain Card information with Google, such as the unique digital number associated with your physical Card, the last four digits of your physical Card, and your most recent transaction information for each Card you selected to add to your Google Wallet.
For more information about Google accounts, please visit Google Support.
We’ll share your recent transaction information made with an eligible Card that has been added to Google Wallet with Google, even if the transaction was made outside Google Pay.
You can opt out of sharing your recent Card transactions made outside of Google Pay by going into your “Settings” in the Google Wallet app and turning off “Non-Device Transactions”. Once you opt out, American Express won’t share your recent Card transactions made outside of Google Pay with Google.
If you don’t want American Express to share your recent Card transactions made using Google Pay, then you may delete your Card from the Google Wallet.
Your Card on your supported device is protected by your device lock (e.g., PIN, password, or Face Unlock).
Your physical Card details in your Google Wallet are never shown in the app or shared with the merchant when you make payments.
Please visit Google Support for more information.

The Security Code for your American Express Card is the 4-digit, non-embossed number printed on the front of your physical Card. For security reasons, you'll be required to enter your Security Code when adding your Card to Google Wallet.
We may ask you to enter a one-time verification code to confirm your identity, for security purposes. This code is a unique series of numbers and/or letters that you'll receive via email or text. If prompted, select how you want to receive the one-time verification code, and then enter that code into the appropriate field.
Your one-time verification code may expire if you aren’t able to enter it within 10 minutes. You can request another code by selecting your preferred verification option again. If you're unable to get a one-time verification code, please contact us by calling the number on the back of your Card.

Using Google Pay
For your security, when you add your American Express Card to Google Wallet, a digital version of your physical Card number is created that is a unique number associated with your physical Card. This digital version of your physical Card is unique to the device and used to identify Google Pay transactions made with this physical Card. To view the last four digits of the digital version of your Card number, tap on your Card in the Google Wallet app and scroll down to your Card details.
With the exception of Debit Card transactions, all transactions completed with Google Pay will appear as “GglPay” and the merchant’s name on your American Express Billing Statement once they are posted.
For Debit Card transactions completed with Google Pay, the merchant’s name will appear on your American Express Rewards Checking or American Express Business Checking monthly statement.
Yes, you can receive refunds to your Amex account for a purchase made with Google Pay in accordance with the merchant’s refund policy. You may be asked to provide the last four digits of the digital version of your physical Card number to the merchant. To locate this, tap on your Card in the Google Wallet app on your device and scroll down to your Card details.
Yes, you receive the same rewards and benefits of your American Express Card when you use it with Google Pay. Please visit your Card account on americanexpress.com or in the Amex App to see your individual Card benefits.

The Google Wallet app tries to provide you with the most relevant information about the places where you’ve made payments with your Card, whether or not you’ve used Google Pay. From time to time, information about the merchant locations where you’ve used Google Wallet (such as the business name and street address) may be displayed differently in your Google Wallet app than the information on your American Express statement. Please know this does not affect your purchase transactions.
If you notice any incorrect information on your American Express statement, call American Express immediately at the number on the back of your physical Card. For virtual account numbers associated with an eligible American Express Business Card or Corporate account, contact us at 1-844-751-0188.

For example, a hotel or gas station may pre-authorize an amount initially, then submit the final charge based on the actual amount of your purchase.
