Why did a hotel charge me before my stay?


Most hotels no longer take a deposit for a check-in.  They now process a pre-authorization of a fixed amount to your nominated credit card, usually at check-in.  This will not be billed to your account and in most instances is reversed when you check-out from the hotel. Alternately, some hotels may simply bill you the difference in the charges made to the pre-authorised amount. If this is not reversed from the account, it will automatically be removed from your Card within 10 working days.  If you are concerned about this, make sure to contact the hotel to remove this pre-authorization, as we are unable to remove it manually.
