Chalet Ivy Jozankei
The town of Otaru, located about an hour away, holds a snow lantern festival each February. During the festival, 2,000 lanterns are lit.
The overall design blends traditional Japanese architecture with contemporary touches in a calm color palette. The decor is minimalistic with wood accents, screens, and tatami mats. Suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows with forest views and private onsens.
ZUI spotlights modern cuisine based on kaiseki dining, a traditional, multi-course meal. Menus feature locally grown ingredients and a mix of Japanese and Western fare.
Enjoy the privacy of your suite’s own onsen or relax in the warm waters of the property’s additional onsens. Treatments at NIKUR Spa incorporate the unique culture and traditional techniques of Japan and use local ingredients such as herbs and tea. A wide range of treatments are available from aromatherapy massages to facials and bamboo body scrubs.
The resort is focused on slowing down, relaxing, and enjoying the mineral-rich waters of the onsens. If you do want to break a sweat, the hotel’s gym is open 24 hours a day.
