With the Flying Blue – American Express Gold Card, you earn Miles for flight tickets faster. You earn up to 1.5 Miles for every euro spent and receive 30 XP each year. Grow your Miles balance more quickly through everyday card use and rely on American Express’s insurance and service.

You earn 1 Mile for every euro spent. Spending with KLM, Air France, and Hertz earns you 1.5 Miles per euro.

The Flying Blue - American Express Gold Card is a charge card:

Earning and spending Miles

If you are a Flying Blue member, you know the benefits of earning Miles. You can use them for things like an upgrade to a higher travel class and paid extra options, or spend your Miles on a reward ticket.

With the Flying Blue – American Express Gold Card, you earn 1 Mile for every euro spent—including on non-flight-related purchases such as groceries and fuel. Direct spending with KLM, AIR FRANCE, and Hertz earns you 1,5 Mile per euro spent.

This allows you to quickly give your Miles balance a significant boost, even when you aren't flying for a while.

Experience Points (XP)

While Miles are your ‘currency’, Experience Points are your ‘status meter’. Experience Points determine your Flying Blue membership level—whether you are Explorer, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. Application approved? Activate your card online.

Has your application been approved? You will then receive the card within 10 working days. To use this, activate your card online.

You can apply for the Flying Blue - American Express Gold Card if you:
  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Have no negative BKR registration
  • Have a residential address in the Netherlands
  • Have a gross annual income of at least €30,000
