Worldwide Travel Insurance
Overall lead in: Sometimes things don’t go the way we want, especially when we travel there are often unforeseen circumstances. Platinum Travel insurance is crucial to give you peace of mind to protect you and your loved ones.
If you have to cancel your trip, some costs will inevitably be non-refundable. Don't worry, we'll refund those.
What will happen if you, or someone close to you, unexpectedly falls ill or has an accident with only hours to spare before departure? Airlines, hotels and cruise lines, for example, may not offer you a refund. So if you do have to abandon, or postpone your trip, call us and we can help you. For all those strictly non-refundable items, you'll be refunded as much as HK$30,000 per trip per traveler*.
Delayed flights and missed departures are all highly inconvenient. However, we'll try our best to make them less disruptive.
- If your flight left without you and was a direct result of the delay in public transport due to adverse weather conditions, strike or riot events, no need to fret. You'll receive up to HK$10,000 for missed departures per trip.
- Feeling hungry? Then relax at the restaurant of your choice, with up to HK$400 for every full 12 hours delay spending on your Card, up to a maximum of HK$3,200 allowance per trip. Or you might prefer to use this allowance towards any additional travel the flight delay may have necessitated.
- Should it continue to be 'one of those journeys', and your luggage doesn't turn up upon arrival at your destination, feel free to buy up to HK$400 of essential clothes and toiletries on your Card for every full 12 hours delay, again up to a maximum of HK$3,200 allowance per trip.
- It's worth knowing, though, that if your baggage is damaged, stolen, or lost, your Platinum travel insurance entitles you to as much as HK$15,000 per trip per traveler*.
- If your travel documents, money or belongings are lost or stolen, nothing can compensate for the loss of personal belongings. However much you're entitled to for the loss, or breakage of items of sentimental value, arguably it's never enough. Should your personal travel documents be stolen, and in the unlikely event you lose bank notes and travelers cheques as a result of robbery, you're covered for up to HK$3,000 per trip.
We find the most effective treatment for an illness or accident abroad is a good dose of understanding.
- With The Platinum Card®, medical benefits for you and your family are generous to say the least. For example, you're protected for amateur water and winter sports including skiing and snowboarding up to HK$1,000,000 of medical expenses.
- If you do have to go into hospital, call us, and we'll ensure you are covered for all your treatment fees up to HK$1,000,000. This includes expenses for medical ad hospital treatment, surgical fees, hospital charges and emergency dental treatment as a result of bodily injury.
- Even after you've been discharged from hospital, we won't stop looking after you. Once you do get home, you'll still enjoy follow-up treatment of up to HK$30,000 for 3 months for bodily injury incurred on the trip.
