The Travel Credit can be redeemed through American Express Travel Online on a single eligible travel booking by selecting the Travel Credit when you checkout. To redeem the Travel Credit, the full value of the Travel Credit (or more) must be charged to the eligible Primary Card. Eligible travel includes flights, hotels and car hire when you prepay in advance. The Travel Credit can be used for 365 days from the benefit anniversary date and cannot be used past the expiration date. To check the expiration date of your Travel Credit if you have not already redeemed it, please visit americanexpress.co.nz/travel; log in and click ‘Travel Credit’. If your booking is cancelled, and your Travel Credit has already been used and associated statement credit applied to your account, you will forfeit your annual Travel Credit benefit and American Express may reverse the statement credits issued. - The Centurion® Lounge: Platinum Card Members have complimentary access to all locations of The Centurion Lounge. Gold Card and Green Card Additional Cards on your Platinum account are not eligible for complimentary access. All access to The Centurion Lounge is subject to space availability. To access The Centurion Lounge, Platinum Card Members must arrive within 3 hours of their departing flight and present The Centurion Lounge agent with the following upon each visit: their valid Card, a boarding pass showing a confirmed reservation for a departing flight on the same day on any carrier and a government-issued I.D. - Delta Sky Club: Effective January 1, 2024: Eligible Card Members travelling on a same-day Delta-operated flight with Basic Economy (E) fare tickets will not have access to the Delta Sky Club or to Grab and Go. This benefit is available to the Platinum Card Members. Platinum Card Members must present their valid American Express Card, government-issued I.D., and boarding pass to the Delta Sky Club ambassador. Boarding pass must show a reservation for a same-day Delta-operated flight (Delta or Delta connection) departing from or arriving at the airport in which the Delta Sky Club is located. Name on boarding pass must match name on the Card. Eligible Platinum Card Members on departing flights can only access the Delta Sky Club within three hours of their flight's scheduled departure time. During a connection between Delta-operated flights on the same ticket, you may use the Delta Sky Club in your connecting airport at any time during the layover. Delta reserves the right to limit access for non-revenue flyers at any Delta Sky Club. Additional Gold Cards and Additional Green Cards on your Platinum account are not eligible for complimentary access. Access to Delta Sky Club partner lounges is not permitted. The Platinum Card is designed for people who travel frequently, spend more on their Card or want access to premium perks and experiences.
Membership Rewards® is how Amex Card Members earn and redeem points from spending on their Platinum Credit Card21. You can earn 2 Membership Rewards points per $1 spent (bills, groceries, dining out, entertainment, travel bookings) and redeem them from a wide range of options such as:
- Using your points for travel and pay for your eligible flight, prepaid hotel or car rental when you book with American Express Travel10; or transferring your points to major Airline and Hotel Transfer Partners13;
- Covering eligible transactions you’ve made on your Card with points12 and reduce your balance;

All American Express Credit Cards have a maximum Credit limit. Your highest limit will depend on your financial circumstances and the Credit Card you choose. When you apply for the Amex Platinum Credit Card. You’ll have the opportunity to choose your preferred Credit Card limit. Approval of your credit limit will be subject to our lending assessment and approval criteria. If you don’t choose a limit, we’ll assign you one, based on your current financial circumstances.

2. 55 Days Interest Free.
You will have up to 55 days interest free on purchases provided you pay the full closing balance of your monthly statement by the due date each month. There is no interest free period on balance transfers or if you carry forward a balance from the previous statement period. The total of interest free days will depend on when you make the purchase and when your statement is issued.
3. Interest Rates.
Interest rates, fees and charges apply. All interest rates are quoted as an Annual Percentage Rate. All information, including fees, charges and interest rates are correct as of 3 May 2023 and are subject to change.
4. Accor+ Explorer Membership
An annual ALL Accor+ Explorer Membership is valued at NZ$379, found at accorplus.com/nz/benefits as at 1 October 2025. An ALL Accor+ Explorer membership is available only to the Primary Platinum Card Member. 5. Global Lounge Collection
This benefit is available to American Express Platinum Card® Members. Eligibility and complimentary access vary by lounge and are governed by the individual lounge terms outlined below. Some airport lounge providers may require presentation of your physical Platinum Card for entry. We highly recommend travelling with your physical Card as some lounges may not accept digital Cards. Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge access program. This benefit is available to Primary Platinum Card Members only. Primary Platinum Card Members may bring one (1) complimentary guest into Priority Pass Lounges that admit guests. You acknowledge and agree that American Express will verify your Card Account number and provide updated Card Account information to Priority Pass. Priority Pass will use this information to fulfill on the Priority Pass program and may use this information for marketing related to the program. Once enrolled, Platinum Card Members whose Card Account is not cancelled may access participating Priority Pass lounges by presenting your physical or digital Priority Pass card and airline boarding pass. If the Card Account is cancelled, you will not be eligible for Priority Pass and your enrolment will be cancelled. At any visit to a Priority Pass lounge that admits guests, Platinum Card Members may bring one (1) complimentary guest. You will be charged the prevailing retail rate for any additional guests. Amenities, services, and hours may vary by participating lounge and are subject to change. American Express and the participating lounge will not be liable for any articles lost or stolen, or damages suffered by the Card Member or guests inside the participating lounge. For participating lounges with a self-service bar, the Card Member may be required to be of legal drinking age in the participating lounge jurisdiction to enter without a parent or legal guardian. 6. Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR).
Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) program benefits are available for new bookings made through American Express Travel with participating properties and are valid only for the following Eligible Card Members: The American Express Platinum Card® and The American Express Platinum Card® Plus. Each eligible FHR booking includes the following program benefits: (1) daily breakfast for two, (2) a US$100 credit towards eligible charges, (3) guaranteed 4pm checkout, (4) 12pm check-in when available, (5) room upgrade upon arrival when available, and (6) complimentary Wi-Fi. To receive program benefits, (i) the booking must be made and paid for using an Eligible Card or another American Express® Card, in the Eligible Card Member's name, (ii) the Eligible Card Member must be traveling on the itinerary booked, and (iii) charges for program benefits (if applicable) must be billed to the hotel room. If paying for the booking at the property, the Eligible Card Member may need to provide a physical American Express Card. Any applicable program-related credits will be applied at checkout in USD or the local currency equivalent. The average total value of the program benefits is based on prior-year bookings for stays of two nights; the actual value varies. Noon check-in and room upgrade are subject to availability and are provided at check-in; certain room categories are not eligible for upgrade. The type of US$100 credit and any additional benefit (if applicable) varies by property; the credit will be applied to eligible charges up to the amount of the credit. Advance reservations are recommended for certain credits. The type of breakfast service and value of the daily breakfast (for two) varies by property but the daily breakfast (for two) will be valued at the greater of: (a) US$60 per room per day; or (b) the total value of two (2) times the price of the lowest priced breakfast entrée, coffee or tea, and juice combination available on the hotel’s breakfast menu(s). The Eligible Card Member will be responsible for all breakfast charges greater than the value of the daily breakfast (for two) credit. If the cost of Wi-Fi is included in a mandatory property fee, a daily credit of that amount will be applied at check-out. Benefits are applied per room, per stay (with a three-room limit per stay). Back-to-back stays booked by a single Card Member, bookings made by different Card Members staying in the same room or bookings made by different Card Members traveling in the same party, in each case, within a 24-hour period at the same property, are considered one stay and are only eligible for one set of FHR benefits for the entirety of such stay. American Express and the Property reserve the right to modify or revoke FHR benefits at any time without notice if we or they determine, in our or their sole discretion, that you may have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with your FHR benefits. Benefit restrictions vary by property. Eligible Card Members are entitled to the benefits offered by the property on the booking check-in date. Benefits cannot be redeemed for cash and are not combinable with other offers unless indicated. Benefits must be used during the stay booked. Benefits, participating properties, and availability and amenities at those properties are subject to change. To be eligible for FHR program benefits, your Eligible Card Account must not be cancelled.
7. Annual Dining Credit.
Valid when dining in at participating location Dining Collection restaurants only. Some locations are excluded, please refer to the full list of participating restaurant locations before dining (amex.co.nz/platinumdining). Limited to one $150 credit each defined calendar period, per Platinum Card Account. The defined calendar periods are between 1 January and 30 June, and between 1 July and 31 December. Limited to a maximum of two credits at a total of $300 each year, per Platinum Card Account. Your Card must be charged prior to the end of each defined calendar period to be eligible for the credit in the defined calendar period. Spend on Additional Cards will count towards the offer. Excludes spend on gift vouchers, online orders for pick up or delivery and transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card at a participating location Dining Collection restaurant. Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the end of the defined calendar period. Excludes transactions made through a third-party establishment or payment processor, apart from Windcave. Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form. Credit will not be applied to your Platinum Card Account if your Card has been suspended or cancelled. Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled.
8. Additional Cards.
Additional Card Members must be 18 years of age or over. Please note Additional Cards are referred to as Supplementary Cards in some Terms and Conditions and marketing materials. The Primary Card Member will be liable to pay for all spend made by Additional Card Members.
9. Gift Cards
Gift Card or voucher rewards are not redeemable or exchangeable for cash or credit and are valid for a period of minimum 3 years from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated. We are not responsible if any Gift Card is lost, stolen, or destroyed, or the Gift Card is used without your permission. Membership Reward terms and conditions apply. Normal retailer gift card or voucher conditions apply, refer to the gift card or retailer website for details.
10. American Express Travel Online:
To earn or redeem Membership Rewards points, Cards must be enrolled to the American Express Membership Rewards programme, and your Card Account must be in good standing. To redeem Membership Rewards Points with American Express Travel Online, you need to have available limit on your Card for the full transaction amount of the booking. You will then receive a statement credit within 3 business days for your points redemption. If the credit isn’t on the same statement as the transaction, it should appear on your next statement. Please pay all amounts due each month. You will earn Membership Rewards points on the full dollar amount charged to your Card. All bookings are subject to the terms and conditions of our Membership Rewards programme. For full Terms and Conditions please visit the Membership Rewards website.
11. Points for Credit
Points may be redeemed by the Basic Card Member for a credit on the Primary Card Account (the Card which your Membership Rewards points balance appears online). American Express may decline a Points for Credit request where the Card Account or Card Member’s other Accounts with American Express are not in good standing or overdue. The redemption of Points for Credit will be administered solely by American Express within 3 business days and cannot be reversed. Redeeming Points for Credit is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund.
12. Cover Charges with Points
Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account and a credit placed on your Card in line with the points chosen to be used for the Eligible Charge. A minimum of 1,000 Membership Rewards points is required for any Use Points for Your Charges transaction. Any credit to your Card Account cannot exceed the amount of the relevant Eligible Charges. A credit will appear on your statement identified as “Membership Rewards Credit”. Points will be debited immediately, and the credit will take up to 72 hours to appear online. Credits processed after the Card Account’s statement closing date will appear in the following statement. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card Account by the due date. Use Points for Charges is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund. American Express will select and display each eligible charge for Use Points for Your Charges (“Eligible Charge”) and the Points required to pay for the Eligible Charge. Each Eligible Charge must: (a) appear within the first 150 transactions of the Online Statement of the Summary of Accounts page; (b) be redeemed within 2 months of the charge appearing on your Card Account; (c) not currently or have previously been disputed; and (d) not be a fee. Eligible Charges, including the points rate required to pay for the Eligible Charge, may be changed at any time without notice. Use Points for Your Charges transactions can only be completed online. Use Points for Your Charges is available only to Primary Card Members enrolled in the New Zealand Membership Rewards programme and is subject to the full Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions.
13. Airline and Hotel Transfer Partners
To redeem points to any Frequent Traveller Program you must be a member of the applicable Program. Enrolment in such Programs is solely your responsibility and fees may apply. The minimum requirement and transfer rate varies. Subject to the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions.
14. The American Express Mobile App.

15. The American Express Platinum Card Insurance
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: No matter where you are in the world, if the unexpected happens on your travels and a medical emergency arises, your first port of call is Chubb Assistance. When an emergency arises, and to ensure you get appropriate, and fast, treatment from a doctor who speaks your language, you should contact Chubb Assistance on +64 9 374 1774 or the number on the back of your Card as soon as reasonably possible when seeking medical treatment, or you may be responsible for your medical expense costs. The American Express Platinum Card insurance is subject to terms, conditions and exclusions (such as maximum age limits, pre-existing medical conditions and cover limits) – see the full terms and conditions available at go.amex/nzplatinuminsurance. You must use your American Express Platinum Card to pay for your return trip in order to be eligible for the travel insurance or pay for eligible items in order to be covered under the insurance. The insurance is underwritten by Chubb Insurance New Zealand Limited (Company Number 104656, FSP No. 35924)) under a group policy held by American Express International (NZ), Inc. (Company Number 867929). Card Members are not a party to the group policy, but may be able to claim under it as third party beneficiaries. 16. Platinum Travel Service.
All fees or amounts payable in relation to the services are inclusive of GST where applicable. All fees, taxes and charges levied by the travel providers and/or air travel suppliers still apply and these are subject to change without notice until such time as tickets are issued.
17. International Airline Program.
- American Express reserves the rights to change these conditions from time to time with 21 days prior notice and/or to discontinue the whole programme. To earn or redeem Membership Rewards points, Cards must be registered to the American Express Membership Rewards program, and be active and current in their payments. When paying with a combination of your American Express Card and Membership Rewards points, only the value applied to the Card is eligible to earn Membership Rewards points. Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions apply when booking on the American Express Travel website. - Airlines reserve the right to change, cancel or restrict flight operations without notice. IAP upgrades or specially negotiated fares may be limited by airlines to certain flights and/or dates (“blackouts”). IAP is subject to the terms and conditions of each participating carrier. American Express does not guarantee that seats or tickets will be available. Cabins of service and discounts vary by airline and route.
- To qualify for the IAP upgrades or specially negotiated fares: a) Your journey must start and end at the same port as designated by the participating airline and be completed within the period during which your selected carrier participates in the programme. You will be advised of any applicable dates at the time of booking. b) IAP tickets must be purchased through the American Express Travel Service and must be charged to a valid New Zealand American Express Platinum Card which is in good standing. c) The Platinum Cardmember who purchases the ticket(s) must be one of the travellers. d) IAP tickets are non-transferable and nonendorsable.
- Any travel on non-participating airlines must be ticketed and paid for separately and is not part of the IAP. Certain code share or flights on the worldwide partners of the participating airlines may not apply.

Savings are based on full-priced retail year-round airfares from New Zealand to select destinations with participating airlines in selected booking classes in First, Business and Premium Economy. Savings are calculated on the base fare and do not include applicable charges such as taxes, service fees, date change fees and cancellation fees. A maximum of 8 tickets can be purchased per Card Member per transaction. Prices are subject to availability and subject to change. All airfares must be purchased through the Platinum Travel Service and paid for on the Platinum Card. Airfares at sale prices may be released in the market at any time and reduce the featured savings. Fare rules including Advance Purchase, Min/Max Stay, any Penalties/Refunds, Stopovers/Transfers, Discounts (child/infant), and Taxes/Surcharges, are dependent on the airline’s Terms and Conditions and can vary. 19. Shop with Points
You may use Points to make purchases at certain retailers listed on our website. You need to indicate at the time of purchase that you wish to Pay with Points. Individual retailers provide specific delivery and refund polices. Refund policies for Pay with Points retail Partners are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the retail Partner. The retailers’ conditions and refund policies may be amended by the retailers from time to time.
20. Dine with Points
Only American Express Cards issued by American Express International (NZ) Inc are eligible provided they are enrolled in the Membership Rewards programme. Business Cards affiliated with a wholesale partner are not eligible. All your accounts must be in good standing and not overdue. A minimum of 1,000 points must be redeemed at any one time. Offer available for all eligible transactions charged and billed on your account, including charges made by Additional Card Members, when dining in at participating Dining Collection restaurants (amex.co.nz/dinewithpoints). Excludes spend on gift vouchers, online orders for pick up or delivery and transactions where you do not spend directly at a participating Dining Collection restaurant. Excludes transactions made through a third-party establishment or payment processor. When you choose to pay off your eligible purchases with points, you will be rewarded with 50% more value on the points (old redemption, 1000 = $5.00 and new ongoing redemption, 1000 = $7.50). You must Use Points for Charges within two months of the eligible purchase appearing on your Card account to receive the added value. For this offer a minimum of $7.50 must be paid by Membership Rewards points in a single redemption for Use Points for Charges. American Express will select and display each eligible charge for Use Points for Charges (“Eligible Charge”) and the Points required to pay for the Eligible Charge. A credit will appear on your statement identified as “Membership Rewards Credit”. Use Points for Charges transactions can only be completed online (amex.co.nz/dinewithpoints).
21. Membership Rewards.
There is no expiry date for points earned while in the programme so long as you are an American Express Card Member enrolled in Membership Rewards® Programme, and your account is kept in good standing and is not overdue.
22. Fraud Protection Guarantee.
Provided that you do not contribute to or unreasonably delay reporting any misuse of your Account and you have complied with your Card Conditions, you will not be held liable for any unauthorised charges.
