Welcome Offers Terms & Conditions

  1. This Welcome Offer is only valid for the American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card applications received by American Express between August 10, 2011 to May 31, 2012 (both dates are inclusive).
  2. Online Bonus: will be credited to the Basic Cardmembers' Asia Miles account within 6 weeks after the application of Basic Card is approved.
  3. Supplementary Card Bonus: applies only to Supplementary Card(s) applied for together with the Basic Card application and will be credited to the Basic Cardmembers' Asia Miles account within 6 weeks after the application of Supplementary Card(s) is approved.
  4. Welcome Bonus: will be credited to the Basic Cardmembers' Asia Miles account within 6 weeks after the total card account spend reaches the total accumulated amount of at least HK$8,000 , provided this occurs within the first 3 months from the date of approval of the Basic Card.
  5. HK$3 = 1 Asia Mile Earn Rate at designated local Everyday Spend merchants: up to a total of 40,000 Asia Miles can be earned for the first 3 months from the date of approval of the Basic Card, at the rate of 1 Asia Mile for every HK$3 spent (i.e. up to HK$120,000 during the first 3 months from the date of card approval). On reaching the limit or from the 4th month onwards, whichever is earlier, you will earn 1 Asia Mile for every HK$8 you spend, at designated local Everyday Spend merchants. Calculation of Asia Miles for each transaction will be rounded down to the nearest whole number during the first 3 months from the date of approval of the Basic Card. Everyday Spend merchants spending is applicable for the following local major gas stations, supermarkets, personal care stores and coffee shops: Caltex, China Oil (Pokfulam and Jardine's Lookout), Esso, Shell, city'super, CRVanguard, DCH Food Marts, express, fusion, GREAT, International, Market Place by Jasons, Oliver's The Delicatessen, PARKnSHOP, Taste, ThreeSixty, Vanguard, VOle', Wellcome, GNC, Mannings, Watsons, Habitu, Pacific Coffee and Starbucks. For spending in other local merchants (not list in above), you will earn 1 Asia Mile for every HK$8 which has no cap on earning Asia Miles. No Asia Miles will be earned for any utility gas and electricity spent on all Cards.
  6. HK$3 = 1 Asia Mile overseas spend: up to a total of 20,000 Asia Miles can be earned for the first 3 months from the date of approval of the Basic Card, at the rate of 1 Asia Mile for every HK$3 spent overseas (i.e. up to HK$60,000). Calculation of Asia Miles for each transaction will be rounded down to the nearest whole number during the first 3 months from the date of approval of the Basic Card. On reaching the limit or from the 4th month onwards, whichever is earlier, you earn 2 Asia Miles for every HK$8 you spent overseas. Overseas spending is defined as Charges (excluding Express Cash, annual fee, late payment charges and other fees) which are made at merchants outside Hong Kong. Payments for online transactions made in Hong Kong Dollars, will not be considered overseas spending.
  7. Applicants who have held either an American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card or an American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card at any time within the past 12 months are not eligible for the welcome offers and the first year annual fee waiver.
  8. American Express International, Inc. reserves the right to change the offer Terms and Conditions and terminate this program without prior notice.
  9. Should any dispute arise, the decision of American Express International, Inc. shall be final.
