You will earn points as soon as you start spending on your Credit Card. Depending which Card you have, your spend will either earn Frequent Flyer points which are automatically transferred to your Frequent Flyer program, or Membership Rewards points which you can then choose to transfer to one of our airline partners1.

Frequent Flyer points can be redeemed with your chosen program for flights and upgrades. They can also be redeemed for hotel bookings, car hire, gifts and more depending on the Frequent Flyer program you’re with.

Membership Rewards points can be redeemed by transferring to and spending with our partner airlines, depending on which Card you have1. They can also be redeemed online for Gift Cards2 from leading retailers, or for a credit on your Account.

1. Membership Rewards Points Transfer is available to primary Card Members enrolled in the Ascent, Business Ascent, Spirit, Ascent Premium and Gateway Membership Rewards programs. Qantas Frequent Flyer is only available as a transfer partner in Business Ascent and Ascent Premium program. Virgin Atlantic Flying Club is not available as an airline transfer partner in Gateway program. To redeem points, you must be a member of the transfer partner's frequent traveller program. Enrolment in the partner program is solely your responsibility and fees may apply. Points transferred to Airline Transfer Partners are not reversible and transferred points are subject to the terms and conditions of the partner programs. The minimum required points to transfer and transfer rate varies. Subject to the Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions available here.

2. Gift Card or voucher rewards are not redeemable or exchangeable for cash or credit and are valid for a period of 3 months from the date of issue, unless otherwise stated. Normal retailer Gift Card terms and conditions apply. Gift Cards and Vouchers will be dispatched within 5 business days. Orders over $600 will be dispatched via Registered Post. Should you not receive your Gift Card or reward within the stated timeframe, you must advise American Express within 28 days from date of redemption.

3. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available at membershiprewards.com.au/termsandconditions.

4. To redeem the Travel Credit, you must have paid the annual fee and minimum payment by the due date. The $200 Travel Credit can be redeemed against any single eligible online travel booking. The Travel Credit can be used for 365 days from the anniversary date and cannot be carried forward to any subsequent year. For bookings less than $200 any unused portion of the Travel Credit will be forfeited, Terms and Conditions apply.

5. Insurance is only available when you use your Card to pay for your travel. Insurances are underwritten by Chubb Insurance Australia Limited (ABN 23 001 642 020, AFSL No. 239687) (Chubb) and are subject to Chubb terms, conditions and exclusions. This site does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. It is important for you to read the American Express Platinum Edge Credit Card Insurance Terms and Conditions available here and consider whether this insurance is appropriate for you.

6. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available here. To transfer Membership Rewards points into an airline rewards or frequent guest partner program you must be a member of the partner program. Membership of the partner program is the Card Member's responsibility and is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the applicable program. A joining fee may apply.

7. Reward Points are governed by the David Jones Storecard and David Jones American Express Reward Points Terms and Conditions and exclusions apply. For full Terms and Conditions go to davidjones.com.au/rewardpoints.

8. Subject to the David Jones Storecard and David Jones American Express Reward Points Terms and Conditions available at davidjones.com.au/rewardpoints. The redemption of points is subject to your account being kept in good standing and not overdue.

Reward Points are earned and converted to Qantas Points in accordance with the David Jones Storecard and David Jones American Express Card Reward Points Terms and Conditions available at davidjones.com.au/rewardpoints and exclusions apply. For the David Jones American Express Card 1 Reward Point = 0.75 Qantas Points. You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to earn and redeem Qantas Points, which are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program Terms and Conditions available at qantas.com/terms.

10. David Jones American Express Platinum Card Members are entitled to two (2) entries into the American Express Lounge per calendar year (1 January to 31 December) for each American Express Card account. The entries may be used by the Primary Card Member, Supplementary Card Holder or a guest travelling with a Card Member. Complimentary access is available for the Card Member’s children 17 years or under. Card Members wishing to bring additional guests will be subject to a charge that is to be processed on the Card Member’s David Jones American Express Platinum Card. Please refer to the reception desk at the American Express Lounge for the applicable charges. The American Express Lounge at Sydney International Airport in Terminal 1 is operated by Plaza Premium Lounge Management. To access the American Express Lounge, Card Members must present their David Jones American Express Platinum Card upon each visit. Failure to present this may result in access being denied. Card Members will not be compensated for changes in locations, rates or policies. A Card Member must be at least 18 years of age to enter without a parent or guardian. The Lounge Operator reserves the right to remove any person from a lounge for inappropriate behaviour or failure to adhere to lounge rules, including, but not limited to, conduct that is disruptive, abusive or violent. Access to the American Express Lounge is subject to space availability. the American Express Lounge hours may vary and are subject to change without prior notice. In-lounge services and amenities are complimentary. American Express will not be liable for any articles lost or stolen or damages suffered by the purchaser or visitor inside The American Express Lounge. Use of the American Express Lounge is subject to all rules and conditions set by American Express and the Lounge Operator. American Express reserves the right to revise the rules at any time without notice.

11. David Jones American Express Card insurances are subject to terms, conditions and exclusions (such as maximum age limits, pre-existing medical conditions and cover limits) - see the full terms and conditions available here. You must use your David Jones American Express Platinum Card to pay for your return trip in order to be eligible for the travel insurance or pay for eligible items in order to be covered under the insurance. The insurance is underwritten by Chubb Insurance Australia Limited (ABN 23 001 642 020, AFSL No. 239687) under a group policy held by American Express Australia Limited (ABN 92 108 952 085, AFSL No. 291313).  Card Members are not a party to the group policy, but may be able to claim under it as third party beneficiaries. 12. Velocity Points are earned in accordance with and subject to the American Express Velocity Card Points Terms and Conditions, and exclusions apply. Eligible purchases do not include cash advances, interest, balance transfers, fees and charges for traveller's cheques and foreign currencies. These do not earn Velocity Points. 13. The complimentary domestic economy Virgin Australia return flight is only available between selected Australian cities and is available for booking by American Express Velocity Platinum Card Members after your first Card spend in the first year, and then after your first Card spend each year after the anniversary of your Membership. All flights are subject to availability and neither Virgin Australia nor American Express guarantees that seats or tickets will be available on the dates or at the times you may wish to fly. Seat availability may be limited to certain dates and/or flights and it may be more difficult to book seats around public holidays, school holidays or special events. Some flights may not have any seats available for redemption. Route availability is subject to change without notice. All travel is subject to the American Express Velocity Platinum Card Benefits Terms and Conditions available here and travel is subject to Virgin Australia Conditions of Carriage available at virginaustralia.com.

14. Virgin Australia lounge entry passes are subject to the American Express Velocity Platinum Card Benefits Terms and Conditions available here. Two Single Entry passes to the Virgin Australia lounge will be activated on the Basic Card Member's Velocity membership card annually on or after each annual Card fee renewal date. Single Entry passes are valid for 12 months from the date of issue. The Virgin Australia lounge is operated by Virgin Australia Airlines Pty Ltd in selected domestic airports and entry is subject to the Virgin Australia lounge Terms and Conditions available here and as amended from time to time.

15. American Express Velocity Platinum Card Insurances are subject to terms, conditions and exclusions. The complimentary travel insurance cover is also subject maximum age limits, pre-existing medical conditions and limits and is available when you use your American Express Velocity Platinum Card to pay for return domestic or international travel. 17. The Qantas domestic return flight is available after your first card spend on selected Qantas Products and Services. Selected Qantas products and services are Qantas passenger flights (with a QF flight number) purchased on the Qantas Merchant account, i.e. directly from Qantas and Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club membership joining and annual fees. Excludes Jetstar, Qantas Holidays and Qantas branded non-airfare products. Subject to the Qantas American Express Cards Points Terms and Conditions.

The Qantas domestic return flight in Economy class between selected Australian capital cities is available for booking for Ultimate Card Members. All flights are subject to availability and neither American Express nor Qantas guarantee that seats or tickets will be available on the dates or at the times you may wish to fly.
