Creating an Access Key
Once you’re registered as a PA, you should create an Access Key. An Access Key is a unique, system-generated code that links to one Basic Control Account (BCA). It allows your employees to apply for Cards online and you to control the process. With this code, you’ll be able to review employee applications online and approve of decline them. You’ll also be able to generate email notices to other approving managers and Card applicants to advise them or provide a status update.
As a Program Administrator (PA), you can only have one Access Key per BCA. A BCA number can have multiple Access Keys, but only one can be assigned to each PA. When a new Access Key is generated by the same PA, the existing Access Key will expire automatically.
Global Apply for Card (new): Click here to learn about Global Apply for Card (GAFC) to get an overview on initiating and managing Card applications.
Approval Routings & Options (Global Apply for Card)
When reviewing a summary of the application, you can choose to approve, edit, or route it back to the Card Applicant for further details, or cancel (decline) to proceed with the application. Review the Global Apply for Card user guide to learn about approving Card applications.
Provide Applicants with Access Key & Link
Global Apply for Card:
Once the Access Key has been created, you’ll be able to provide the Access Key and the following link to your employees for the @ Work Global Apply for Card portal: https://www.americanexpress.com/en-la/charge-cards/apply/corporate?loginPage=ak.
Online Account Access:
Corporate Card accounts are eligible to enroll for online services. Centrally Billed Accounts, where charges on all Card accounts are billed to the company instead of the individual Card Members, may be excluded. Use of online payments and electronic expense report services are subject to your company practices and policies. Card Members must enroll at https://americanexpress.com/confirmcard.

General Considerations for Completing and Submitting a Global Dollar Card (GDC) - American Express® Corporate Card Application (for Program Administrators)
This document outlines the completion requirements and submission channel options for Global Dollar Card - American Express® Program Administrators (PAs) regarding their employees' GDC Corporate Card applications.
Before initiating the Card application process, please ensure that the country on the Card Applicant’s application matches the country in which
your company operates and for which it has an a GDC program. This is reflected in the program’s hierarchy at Master Control, ntermediate Control,
or Basic Control Account level. If you need to add a new country to your program’s hierarchy, please reach out to your GDC Account Executive
first. Applications that do not meet this requirement will be rejected.
Completion Requirements
- The Card Applicant must complete the GDC Card application on their own behalf. Program Administrators and other individuals are not permitted to complete the GDC Card application on behalf of the Card Applicant.
- The country of residence of the Card Applicant must match the country of the Basic Control Account under which the Card is being requested.
Note: There are certain countries in which GDC Cards may be used, but where GDC Cards cannot be delivered. If delivery to an address in one of these countries is requested, you will need to select an alternative address in a country that is approved for delivery of GDC Cards. In all circumstances, only addresses in countries where GDC Cards can be used, and which are approved for delivery of GDC Cards, will be accepted. You may contact GDC Customer Service with any questions.
- In all circumstances, only alternate addresses in countries that are approved for GDC Card issuance will be accepted.
Note: American Express may request address verification documentation for the company address and alternate address if either is selected as the preferred Correspondence/Billing/Card Delivery address.
Submission Channel Considerations
We accept applications in two forms - PDF and through Global Apply for Card (GAFC) (recommended):
- For PDF applications:
- The number of days between the date of the Card Applicant’s signature and date of application approval by the approver/PA should not exceed 45 days.
- The number of days between the date of the Card Applicant’s signature and application submission date to American Express should not exceed 52 days.
- We recommend applying a digital signature – DocuSign or Adobe – rather than a manual signature on the application form.
- For Global Apply for Card (GAFC) applications:
- Expedited Card deliveries require a physical address; the address for delivery cannot be a P.O. Box.
- Expedited Card delivery is the quickest available option for courier delivery to Card Members. American Express does not guarantee at any time certain delivery dates or time frames for expedited Card delivery. Expedited Card delivery time is subject to the courier services being available in the country in which the requested delivery address is located.
Submission Results
An application may be approved, pended, or rejected.
- If the Card application is approved, the Card will be issued and then delivered to the address selected by the Card Applicant for Card delivery.
- If the Card application is pended due to missing information and/or additional information required from the Card Applicant:
- A Letter of Incompleteness (LOI) is sent to the Card Applicant’s business email and physical address provided on the application. The LOI contains details about the missing information, and, if applicable, provides a list of approved documents that need to be submitted.
- The Card Applicant is responsible for discussing the status of their Card application with the Card application’s internal approver (e.g., PA), if necessary.
- The Card Applicant has 30 days to respond to the LOI. No response or an incomplete or inaccurate response will result in the rejection of the Card application.
- The Card application’s internal approver (e.g., PA) will receive a notification of the pended status, but no specific details are provided due to privacy considerations.
- If the Card application is rejected, it means one or more completion requirements were not met and:
- An adverse action notice is sent to the Card Applicant’s business email address provided on the application, including the reason for rejection.
