Recruitment Fraud Warning
Stay Alert in Your Job Search
We’re excited you’re considering a career with American Express. Please be aware that recruitment scams are on the rise. Fraudsters may utilize fictitious job postings, interviews, applications, or offer letters in an attempt to obtain payment or personal information.
To help protect your information and remain confident in your job search with American Express, here’s what you can expect from us—and what to look out for:
What We Will Never Do
Ask for sensitive personal data (e.g. SSN, bank details, passport numbers) except through approved and secured methods once an individual has accepted an offer and E-signs an official American Express offer letter.
Request for monetary payment (credit/debit payments, digital wallets, electronic transfers, gift cards, etc.) or financial information at any stage.
Send unexpected messages from free email services (like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail). For reference, “@aexp.com” and “axprecruit.americanexpress.com” are the only verified Amex Email Domains.
Offer a job without an interview.
Connect via unverified LinkedIn accounts or unusual resume sources.
What We Will Do
Require applications to be submitted and E-Signed on our official American Express Careers Site before extending an offer.
Use Verified LinkedIn Recruiter Accounts (look for the LinkedIn “shield”
and verified recruiter badges in all InMail messages).Provide clear details and next steps at every stage and follow all laws and privacy standards throughout the process.
Work with vetted recruitment agencies that demonstrate clear communication (not bots or automated replies), early use of video meetings to build credibility, and meaningful investment in candidate preparation and guidance throughout the process.
