How long will the application take?

This application will take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete if you have all your information at hand.

To protect your information this application will timeout after 30 minutes.

Upon completion of the application, you can submit and receive a notification within 60 seconds advising you whether or not you have been approved or whether we need more time to process your application. In some instances, we may need additional information from you.

What information do I need?

In order to complete the application you will need the following information at hand.

  • Existing American Express Card number (if applicable)
  • Your driver's licence details (if you have one)
  • Your current employer's details including full address and telephone number
  • Your annual salary and other annual income before tax
  • If you are self-employed, details of your accountant
  • Your monthly household expenses
  • Your monthly repayments for car, personal or other loans
  • Combined credit limit for Cards that are NOT held with American Express

Who can apply?

  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Have a good credit history and no payment defaults
  • Be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia or hold a current Business Long Stay Visa (Subclass 457)
  • Earn a personal gross (pre-tax) annual income of $65,000 or more
  • If self-employed, you have been trading for at least 18 months or 12 months if you hold an existing American Express issued Card

4. The Qantas domestic return flight in Economy class between selected Australian capital cities is available for booking for Ultimate Cardmembers. All flights are subject to availability and neither American Express nor Qantas guarantee that seats or tickets will be available on the dates or at the times you may wish to fly. Seat availability may be limited to certain dates and/or flights and it may be more difficult to book seats around public holidays, school holidays or special events. Some flights may not have any seats available for redemption. Route availability is subject to change without notice. All travel is subject to the Qantas Conditions of Carriage. Provided that you notify us immediately of any fraudulent transactions and you have complied with your Card Conditions, you will not be held liable for any unauthorised charges. “Immediately” means as soon as you are aware but no later than on or after the due date for payment of the statement in which the fraudulent transaction appears.

9. If your Credit Card is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately. You can call American Express 24 hours a day. In Australia, call us on 1300 363 687. If you are overseas, report your lost or stolen Card to the nearest American Express Travel Service or Representative Office. Once you have notified us, you are not liable for any unauthorised charges.
