1. Annual Dining Credit
Valid at participating Dining Collection restaurants only. Limited to one $100 credit each defined calendar period, per Gold Rewards Card Account. The defined calendar periods are between 1 January and 30 June, and between 1 July and 31 December. Limited to a maximum of two credits at a total of $200 each year, per Gold Rewards Card Account. Your Card must be charged prior to the end of each defined calendar period to be eligible for the credit in the defined calendar period. Spend on Additional Cards will count towards the offer. Excludes transactions where you do not spend directly with your Card at a participating Dining Collection restaurant. Credit should appear on your billing statement within 5 business days from qualifying spend but may take up to 90 days from the end of the defined calendar period. Excludes transactions made through a third-party establishment or payment processor. Credit is not redeemable for cash or other payment form. Credit will not be applied to your Gold Rewards Card Account if your Card has been suspended or cancelled. Credit may be reversed if your qualifying purchase is refunded or cancelled. If you hold multiple American Express Cards linked to one Membership Rewards® account, the Credit will be credited to the Primary Card Account only.
2. Membership Rewards
There is no expiry date for points earned while in the programme so long as you are an American Express Card Member enrolled in Membership Rewards® Programme, and your account is kept in good standing and is not overdue.

This great travel benefit means when you book and pay for your return trip with your American Express Gold Credit Card, you can take advantage of domestic and overseas travel insurance for you, your partner and your children under the age of 231.
Your complimentary Travel Insurance gives you:
- Overseas Medical Emergency Expenses Cover (including Repatriation) up to $2,500,000;
- Travel Cancellation Cover up to $30,000;
- Baggage, Money and Documents Cover up to $30,000;

Key limitations and exclusions:
The new Terms and Conditions will apply to claim events occurring on or after 15 September 2022.
Claims related to pre-existing medical conditions are excluded;
Cover for medical assistance and expenses are only available until you (or your family) reach 80 years of age;
Cover does not apply to Additional Card Members;
In order to receive certain insurance benefits, you need to purchase the return trip on your American Express Gold Credit Card in full.

The insurance is underwritten by Chubb Insurance New Zealand Limited (Company No. 104656) under a group policy held by American Express International (NZ), Inc. (Company Number 867929). Card Members are not a party to the group policy, but may be able to claim under it as third party beneficiaries. This information does not take into account your objectives or financial situation. As an American Express® Gold Rewards Card Member enrolled in our Membership Rewards programme, you'll earn 2 Membership Rewards points per $1 spent on all purchases.1
The best thing is, there's no expiry or cap to the number of Membership Rewards points you can earn, as long as your account is current and in good standing. When you consider the points earning potential, it makes a lot of sense to use your American Express Card every time you spend.
Additional Cards
An Additional Card can be linked to your Card Account, to be used by family or a friend. If you’re enrolled in Membership Rewards, it’s a great way to earn more Membership Rewards points, as points earned on transactions on Additional Cards are credited to the primary Card Member’s account2.
Plus, one of the privileges of having an American Express Gold Rewards Card is that you have access to Additional Cards at $0 each per annum.
If you’re enrolled in Membership Rewards, you can use Membership Rewards points or a combination of points and payment to pay for charges and reduce your Account balance.3
Here’s how to redeem points for charges on your Account:
- Log in to your Account online or via the Amex App.
- Select the eligible transaction from your online Account.
- Get a credit on your Account within 72 hours.

Pay with Points in the App
Use Membership Rewards points to pay for purchases in the Amex App. Simply select an eligible transaction from the timeline and use points to treat yourself.
1. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards Program available at americanexpress.com/en-nz/rewards/membership-rewards/terms.
2. Supplementary Card Members must be 18 years of age or over. The primary Card Member will be liable for all Supplementary Card spending.
3. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account and a credit placed on your Card in line with the points chosen to be used for the Eligible Charge. A minimum of 1,000 Membership Rewards points is required for any Use Points for Your Charges transaction. Any credit to your Card Account cannot exceed the amount of the relevant Eligible Charges. A credit will appear on your statement identified as “Membership Rewards Credit”. Points will be debited immediately and the credit will take up to 72 hours to appear online. Credits processed after the Card Account’s statement closing date will appear in the following statement. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card Account by the due date. Use Points for Charges is not available for redemption by Corporate Cards, Allied Liquor and Tasman Liquor American Express Gold Business Cards, and is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund. American Express will select and display each eligible charge for Use Points for Your Charges (“Eligible Charge”) and the Points required to pay for the Eligible Charge. Each Eligible Charge must: (a) appear within the first 150 transactions of the Online Statement of the Summary of Accounts page; (b) be redeemed within 2 months of the charge appearing on your Card Account; (c) not currently or have previously been disputed; and (d) not be a fee. Eligible Charges, including the points rate required to pay for the Eligible Charge, may be changed at any time without notice. Use Points for Your Charges transactions can only be completed online. Use Points for Your Charges is available only to Basic Card Members enrolled in the New Zealand Membership Rewards programme and is subject to the full Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions.
4. You can redeem points for prepaid travel of a nominated value through American Express Travel Online with the point-of-purchase redemption capability. Travel bookings using points may be booked for any person, provided all your accounts are kept in good standing and are not overdue. All travel bookings are subject to availability. Subject to the American Express Travel Online standard booking terms and conditions.
5. Partner terms and conditions apply. Available to New Zealand enrolees who reside in New Zealand only. Enrolment in the New Zealand American Express Membership Rewards programme is required.
