What’s more, if you’re enrolled in our TurboTM programme, you’ll earn 2 Membership Rewards points for every $1 spent on your Card.
You can then redeem Membership Rewards points on travel, entertainment or even household items, the choice is yours. The best thing is, there's no cap to the number of points you can earn and your points won’t expire as long as your account is current and in good standing. Additional Cards
An Additional Card can be linked to your Card Account, to be used by family or a friend. If you’re enrolled in Membership Rewards, it’s a great way to earn more Membership Rewards points, as points earned on transactions on Additional Cards are credited to the primary Card Member’s account.2
Plus, one of the privileges of having an American Express Gold Card is that you have access to Additional Cards at just $70 each per annum.
If you’re enrolled in our Membership Rewards programme, you can use Membership Rewards points or a combination of points and payment to pay for charges on your account. It’s a great way to reduce your Account balance and free up your cash flow.3
Here’s how to redeem points for charges on your Account:

- Supplementary Card Members must be 18 years of age or over. The primary Card Member will be liable for all Supplementary Card spending.
- Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account and a credit placed on your Card in line with the points chosen to be used for the Eligible Charge. A minimum of 1,000 Membership Rewards points is required for any Use Points for Your Charges transaction. Any credit to your Card Account cannot exceed the amount of the relevant Eligible Charges. A credit will appear on your statement identified as “Membership Rewards Credit”. Points will be debited immediately and the credit will take up to 72 hours to appear online. Credits processed after the Card Account’s statement closing date will appear in the following statement. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card Account by the due date. Use Points for Charges is not available for redemption by Corporate Cards, Allied Liquor and Tasman Liquor American Express Gold Business Cards, and is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund. American Express Safekey is an added layer of security that helps protect American Express Card Members from fraud when making online purchases. When you buy online from participating Safekey Merchants, we’ll SMS or email you a one-time code to ensure your Card is not being compromised. This security benefit costs Card Members nothing and registration is automatic.
