There are many ways to pay your American Express Card. Choose the way that works best for you.

You can view your statement online and check your current balance any time with American Express Online Services.

Telephone or Internet Banking

Contact your bank or log into your online banking to make immediate or scheduled payments to your Card Account. Please allow up to three days for payment clearance.

The bank will need the following account information to set up scheduled payments:

For American Express Credit, Charge and Small Business Card payments:

For American Express Line of Credit payments:

Direct Debit

You can arrange to have your Card payment automatically debited from your bank account each month. You’ll still receive your monthly statement so you can review your charges. If you have queries about any of the charges on your statement, call the number of the back of your Card before your payment date. Otherwise, the payment will be automatically debited from your bank account on the direct debit payment date listed on your statement.

Keep in mind that it's important you continue paying your account using another payment option until your direct debit plan begins. You will see a message on your statement when your direct debit date is confirmed.

Pay in Person at New Zealand Post

Bring your paper statement (sent to you by mail) and your American Express Card to any PostShop. Please note, a printed statement from your online account cannot be used for this purpose.

  • You can pay with cash, debit card or cheque.
  • Please have a valid Photo ID available when paying with cheque.
  • Cash payments are limited to either $7000 or the amount owing on your current statement, whichever is less. Only the primary or supplementary Card Member can make cash payments to their Card Account. No one else can make a cash payment on behalf of the Card Member.
  • Please allow up to three days for payment to be cleared.
