Your metal Platinum Card
With a new, sleek design made from metal, from 17 July 2018 all Platinum Cards issued to you as a Platinum Card Member or Additional Platinum Card Member will be made from metal. Your new metal Platinum Card can be used for contactless payments and will be issued to you upon your Card expiry date.

4. Platinum Travel Insurance. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: No matter where you are in the world, if the unexpected happens on your travels and a medical emergency arises, your first port of call is Chubb Assistance. In the event of an incident and to ensure you get appropriate, and fast, treatment from a doctor who speaks your language, you must call Chubb Assistance on +61 2 9335 3492 or the number on the back of your Card before seeking medical treatment, or you may be responsible for your medical expense costs.
The American Express Platinum Card insurance is subject to terms, conditions and exclusions (such as maximum age limits, pre-existing medical conditions and cover limits) – see the full terms and conditions available at americanexpress.com.au/platinuminsurance. You must use your American Express Platinum Card to pay for your return trip in order to be eligible for the travel insurance or pay for eligible items in order to be covered under the insurance. 5. The American Express Global Lounge Collection: The Centurion Lounge Network. Platinum Card Members have unlimited complimentary access to The Centurion Lounge locations. Gold Card and Green Card Additional Cards on your Account are not eligible for unlimited complimentary access. Platinum Card Members may bring up to two (2) companions into The Centurion Lounge. Children under 2 years of age can access the lounge free of charge, provided an accompanying parent or guardian is able to produce a “lap infant” boarding pass or proof of age. To access The Centurion Lounge, the Platinum Card Member must present The Centurion Lounge agent with the following upon each visit: his or her valid Card and upon request, same-day airline ticket on any carrier and a government-issued I.D. Failure to present this documentation may result in access being denied. The Centurion Lounge is a day of departure lounge. 1. The Global Dining Collection. Benefits available for Platinum Card Members at participating restaurants. The Platinum Card Member's Account must be in good standing. Participating restaurants are subject to change without notice. Benefits vary by participating restaurant. The benefits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged or substituted, and cannot be combined with any other dining promotions or offers unless indicated otherwise. In order to take advantage of the benefits, reservations must be made through Platinum Concierge and the restaurant charge must be charged to your American Express Platinum Card. Fulfilment of the program benefits is the responsibility of the individual participants. The reserved table benefit is limited to one (1) table for up to four (4) people or two (2) tables for up to two (2) people until approx. 10 am daily. Reservations are based on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. In the event of a reservation cancellation, the Platinum Card Member will be subject to the restaurant’s cancellation policy, which will be communicated to the Platinum Card Member by Platinum Concierge at the time of booking. 1. Membership Rewards. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available at americanexpress.com/en-au/rewards/membership-rewards/terms. Government transactions will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Merchants classified as "government", including the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Postal Corporation (Australia Post), Federal/State and Local Government bodies. Industry specific earn rate may apply when you use a payment account, payment aggregator, services of a third party or online retailers that sell goods for another merchant. For example a payment made to Local Government bodies processed through a payment aggregator may earn rates at the government earn rate.
2. Additional Cards. Additional Card Members must be 16 years of age or over. Additional Card Members were previously referred to as “Supplementary Card Members”. The basic Card Member will be liable to pay for all transactions made by Additional Card Members.
3. Refer a friend. American Express discourages spamming. You should only send referral messages to friends and family who genuinely want to receive them. Subject to 'Refer a Friend' Terms and Conditions available here. In order to be eligible for bonus points, your friend must apply using the referral link you send them. If your friend applies from a separate link or applies independently you will not receive bonus points. To transfer Membership Rewards points into an airline rewards or frequent guest partner program you must be a member of the partner program. 5. Platinum Travel Service. All fees or amounts payable in relation to the services are inclusive of GST where applicable. Your Platinum Card does not have a pre-set spending limit7 because it is a Charge Card.
However, this does not mean unlimited spending. Your purchases are approved based on a number of factors and as we get to know your spending patterns, we’ll adjust how much you can spend on your Card. You will be required to pay the amount you have charged to the Card, in full, each month.

The Check Spending Power tool is available to help give you peace of mind by confirming in advance if a purchase is likely to be approved.* Simply enter the
dollar amount you plan to spend and find out immediately. Equipped with this
information, you can make purchases confidently. Use the Check Spending Power tool in your Online Account or American Express app.

With a new, sleek design made from metal, from 17 July 2018 all Platinum Cards issued to you as a Platinum Card Member or Additional Platinum Card Member will be made from metal. Your new metal Platinum Card can be used for contactless payments and will be issued to you upon your Card expiry date.

You can apply for up to 4 additional Platinum Cards, at no extra fee4. All Membership Rewards points earned on these Cards are credited to your Account, so you can watch your points balance grow.

Refer a friend
Get up to 200,000 points a year by making successful referrals5. To refer friends, simply log in with your User ID and password, refer your friends or family via email or by sharing your unique referral link, and you'll receive bonus points after they're approved.

1. Platinum Travel Service. All fees or amounts payable in relation to the services are inclusive of GST where applicable. All fees, taxes and charges levied by the travel providers and/or air travel suppliers still apply and these are subject to change without notice until such time as tickets are issued. Domestic ticketing includes New Zealand. Travel services provided by American Express International, Inc. ABN 15 000 618 208. Incorporated with Limited Liability in Delaware, USA.
2. American Express Mobile App. To use the App, you must be registered for Online Services. You can register for Online Services at americanexpress.com.au/register. App Store is a service mark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Google Play is a trademark of Google Inc.
3. Select and Pay with Points. This is available to primary Card Members enrolled in the Membership Rewards program. Minimum redemption amounts apply. Any credit to your Card Account cannot exceed the amount of the relevant Eligible Charges or the current outstanding balance on your Account. Certain fees and charges are excluded. Points will be debited immediately and the credit can take up to 72 hours to appear online. Credits processed after the Card account’s statement closing date will appear in the following statement. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card account by the due date. Subject to the Membership Rewards Terms & Conditions at membershiprewards.com.au/termsandconditions.
4. Additional Cards. Additional Card Members must be 16 years of age or over. Additional Card Members were previously referred to as “Supplementary Card Members”. The basic Card Member will be liable to pay for all transactions made by Additional Card Members.
5. Refer a friend. American Express discourages spamming. You should only send referral messages to friends and family who genuinely want to receive them. Subject to 'Refer a Friend' Terms and Conditions available here. In order to be eligible for bonus points, your friend must apply using the referral link you send them. If your friend applies from a separate link or applies independently you will not receive bonus points. You cannot refer a friend who already has one of our Cards or has held one in the last 18 months and you will only receive the Bonus Points if your friend's Card application is approved. You may only send referral messages to a maximum of 20 friends and the amount of Bonus Points you may receive under the ‘Refer a Friend’ program is capped at 200,000 points per year.
6. Fraud Protection Guarantee. Provided that you do not contribute to or unreasonably delay reporting any misuse of your Account and you have complied with your Card Conditions, you will not be held liable for any unauthorised charges.
7. Pre-set spending limit. No pre-set spending limit does not mean unlimited spending. Your purchases are approved based on a variety of factors, including current spending patterns, your payment history, credit records, and financial resources known to us.
