The fast way to earn Airpoints Dollars™
Through Air New Zealand’s loyalty programme, Airpoints™, it’s easy to earn Airpoints Dollars when you spend on your Card. You will earn 1 Airpoints Dollar for every $100 spent1 on your American Express Airpoints Card. Or for the American Express Airpoints Platinum Card, you will earn 1 Airpoints Dollar for every $59 spent2 on your Card as well as 1 Status Point for every $250 you spend3 on your Card.
The Airpoints Dollars you earn are transferred directly to your Air New Zealand Airpoints Account and can be redeemed for domestic or international flights to over 1300 destinations across 190 countries – thanks to Air New Zealand’s global Star Alliance network and other airline partners.4

1. Airpoints are earned in accordance with the American Express Airpoints Card Terms and Conditions. Exclusions apply. Eligible purchases do not include cash advances, interest, balance transfers, fees and charges for Travellers Cheques, Gift Cheques and Foreign currencies or annual Card fees or other fees and charges billed to the account. 2. Airpoints Terms & Conditions. Subject to the American Express Airpoints Platinum Card Benefits Terms and Conditions available here. Status Points and Airpoints Dollars are not earned on purchases of American Express Travellers Cheques, Gift Cards or for purchases of Foreign Exchange, cash advances, balance transfers, interest, annual Card fees or other fees and charges billed to the account. Air New Zealand Airpoints Programme terms and conditions also apply. Airpoints Dollars and Status Points earning rates are subject to change with reasonable notice.
3. You can earn up to half the Status Points you need to reach or maintain your Silver or Gold Airpoints tier status by making purchases on your Credit Card. You need to earn at least 900 Status Points on Air New Zealand operated flights to change from Gold to Gold Elite, and 810 Status Points on Air New Zealand operated flights to maintain Gold Elite, and the balance can be earned by making purchases on your Credit Card. 5. Annual Travel Credit. If your Card has a Travel Credit benefit, the Primary Card Member is eligible for an annual Travel Credit, subject to Travel Credit Terms and Conditions at americanexpress.co.nz/platinumtravelcreditterms. The Travel Credit can be redeemed through American Express Travel Online on a single eligible travel booking by selecting the Travel Credit when you checkout. To redeem the Travel Credit, the full value of the Travel Credit (or more) must be charged to the eligible Primary Card. Eligible travel includes flights, hotels and car hire when you prepay in advance. The Travel Credit can be used for 365 days from the benefit anniversary date and cannot be used past the expiration date. To check the expiration date of your Travel Credit if you have not already redeemed it, please visit americanexpress.co.nz/travel; log in and click ‘Travel Credit’.
If your booking is cancelled, and your Travel Credit has already been used and associated statement credit applied to your account, you will forfeit your annual Travel Credit benefit and American Express may reverse the statement credits issued. You need to be able to spend on the Card to access the Travel Credit benefit and it should be credited to your Card Account within 3 business days but may take up to 30 days. Your account must be in good standing and you must have paid the annual fee and minimum payment by the due date. If you cancel your Card, change your rewards program or Card type, you will no longer be eligible for the Travel Credit.
6. American Express Travel Online: You can redeem points for prepaid travel of a nominated value through American Express Travel Online with the point-of-purchase redemption capability. Travel bookings using points may be made for any person, provided all your Accounts are kept in good standing and are not overdue. All travel bookings are subject to availability. Subject to the American Express Travel Online standard booking Terms and Conditions.
7. Partner terms and conditions apply. Available to New Zealand enrollees who reside in New Zealand only. Enrolment in the New Zealand American Express Membership Rewards Programme is required. A fee may apply. Flights are subject to availability. American Express accepts no responsibility for any information passed by you to Webjet. A minimum of 10,000 points must be redeemed at any one time. If using 'Points + Pay' the pay amount will be automatically billed to your Card Account and will appear on the first billing statement following redemption.
8. Points are only redeemable in store. A minimum of 10,000 points must be redeemed at any one time. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the American Express Membership Rewards Programme.
9. To transfer Membership Rewards points into an airline partner programme or a frequent guest partner programme, you must be a member of the partner programme. Membership of the partner programme is the Card Member's responsibility and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable programme. A joining fee may apply. 10. Priority Pass. Your Priority Pass benefit will be limited to lounge access only. Non-lounge airport experiences in the form of food and beverage credits at restaurants, cafes and bars will no longer be available. To enjoy access to over 1,200 lounges in 130 countries, please visit americanexpress.com.nz/platinumlounges for a list of available lounges. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Priority Pass™ program. Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge access program. Primary Platinum Card Members and one nominated Additional Platinum Card Member per Account are eligible for Priority Pass membership. At any visit to a Priority Pass lounge that admits guests, you may bring in one guest at no charge. You will be charged the prevailing retail rate for any additional guests. Some lounges do not admit guests. Both the Primary and Additional Platinum Card Members must enrol into Priority Pass and may access participating Priority Pass lounges by presenting your Priority Pass card and airline boarding pass. In some lounges, Priority Pass member must be 21 years of age to enter without a parent or guardian. Amenities may vary among airport lounge locations. Conference rooms, where available, may be reserved for a nominal fee. Priority Pass lounge partners and locations are subject to change. All Priority Pass members must adhere to the Priority Pass Conditions of Use, including house rules of participating lounges, and can be viewed at prioritypass.com. Please allow 4-6 weeks from enrolment to receive your Priority Pass card and membership package.

The Basic Card Member is entitled to two complimentary Priority Pass lounge passes annually on or after each annual card fee renewal date, delivery of which can take up to eight (8) weeks. Priority Passes are valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issue. Basic Card member must present the Priority Pass and same-day boarding pass to gain entry into the lounge.
