How to apply for an American Express Business Card

Click the ‘Get started’ button below, select your preferred Card from the following page and then click ‘Apply Now’. (Don’t forget to check the eligibility requirements and read the Terms and Conditions for the Card you’re applying for.)

Enter your personal and business information, supply any supporting documentation requested, and submit your application.

Once you’ve been approved, you’ll receive your Card in the mail and you’ll just need to activate it.

Eligibility requirements

When applying for an American Express Business Credit or Charge Card, you’ll need to fulfill two sets of criteria.

Personal criteria

Card Members must:

  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have a good credit history with no record of bad debt or payment default.

Business criteria

Businesses must:

  • Have an annual revenue of $75,000 or more.
  • Have a valid ABN registered for GST.
  • Have been trading for 12 months or more.

Information we’ll need for the application

About you:

  • Personal details, such as your home address, contact number, and annual income.

About your business:

  • Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • Business Entity Name (this is how your business is registered, which may be different to the name your business operates under).
  • The details of all individuals who own or control 25% or more of your business’ shares or voting rights, even if these interests are held directly.
  • The details of up to four Directors, Partners, Committee Members, or Officers.
  • All of the relevant business information for the Sole Trader, if this is how the business is set up.

Possible supporting documents:

  • Identification documents for the primary Card Members (depending on the business structure, this may also be required for Directors, Beneficial Owners or other legal representatives).
  • Partnership agreements.
  • Constitution or meeting minutes.
  • Trust deeds.
