Extend cash flow with a Business Credit Card

If you choose an American Express Credit Card, you can access a range of features to help you manage a busy business.

• All American Express Business Credit Cards offer you up to 55 days interest-free on purchases1

• At the end of the month you can choose when to make your payments – either pay the entire balance straight away to minimise interest, or pay part of the balance and access your revolving line of credit

In addition, they earn Rewards points2 on every purchase, giving you something back from your everyday expenses.

Business Charge Cards for flexible spending

All our Charge Cards help you maximise your business cash flow. With no pre-set spending limit3, business owners can often make large purchases - such as utilities, insurance, etc. - while also covering everyday expenses like travel, fuel and utilities.

'No pre-set spending limit' doesn’t mean unlimited spending. Put simply, it means the amount you can spend adjusts based on your spending patterns, payment history, and credit records.

Use points to further improve your cash flow

Whether you use a Charge Card or a Credit Card, remember that almost every purchase can earn you Rewards points2, which you could use to help pay off your balance.4

Alternatively you could use your points for a range of business benefits, giving you more ways to benefit from the money you've spent.

Step 1

Locate the closing date and payment due date on your American Express Statement

Step 2

Identify purchases charged to your Card and the posting date of that purchase to your account

Step 3

Work with your largest suppliers to change your inventory purchase date to just after the Card closing date. You can also work with your American Express Business Manager to change your billing cycle to better match the needs of your business.

  1. Depending on when you make a purchase, when your statement is issued and whether or not you are carrying forward a balance on your account from your previous statement period
  2. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program in which you are actively enrolled. Spending at restaurants, airlines and accommodation, major cruise and tour operators will only be eligible for increased Membership Rewards points where they are categorised as such in the American Express Merchant Acceptance system. For example, dining within a retail department store, hotels, pubs and liquor outlets may not be eligible to receive the additional points for restaurants. Spend on airlines or spend on accommodation is eligible for the additional points when paid directly to the merchant or through a travel agent. Membership Rewards points are awarded on the AUD equivalent amount of the spend in foreign currency. Except for spend in foreign currency, purchases at these merchants are only eligible for additional points if the transactions are made in Australia. Selected advertising media channels include, but are not limited to: Fairfax, News Ltd, Google, The Canberra Times, Pacific Publications, ACP Publishing, Cumberland. Selected couriers include, but are not limited to: FedEx, UPS, Schenker Australia, DHL. Selected IT retailers include Apple, Dell, IBM, and exclude department stores and general computer suppliers
  3. No pre-set spending limit does not mean unlimited spending. Your purchases are approved based on a variety of factors, including current spending patterns, your payment history, credit records, and financial resources known to us.
  4. Points may be redeemed by the Basic Card Member for a credit on the Primary Card Account. American Express may decline a Points for Credit request where the Card Account or Card Member's other accounts with American Express are not in good standing. The redemption of Points for Credit will be administered solely by American Express within three business days and cannot be reversed. Redeeming Points for Credit is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund
