Make sure websites are genuine

Look for the top three signs a site is secure: 

• A padlock symbol in the browser address bar (not on the page itself)nwhen you go to log in or pay. 

• A web address beginning with 'https://' (the 's' stands for 'secure').

• In some browsers, the address bar or the company name has a green tint.

Keep your Account details safe

• Choose strong, unique passwords - a different one for each site. 

• Log out of sites where you've registered your details fully - just closing the browser isn't enough. 

• Make sure your antivirus/antispyware software and firewall are up-to-date and running.
