What is Pay With Bank Transfer?
Pay With Bank Transfer is a way to securely pay your American Express bill via a direct transfer from your bank account. It’s simple to use and takes place in just a few quick steps, with no account setup required. What’s more, with the payment itself being handled entirely by your bank, you benefit from bank-grade security, and none of your payment details being stored by American Express.
How is my information protected?
After you click to Pay With Bank Transfer and select your preferred bank, we will securely re-direct you to your bank’s app or online service. You will authenticate yourself directly to your bank using its normal method, and your bank uses your personal information only to verify your identity and confirm sufficient available funds for the payment. Your personal payment information will not be stored by American Express.
Does Pay With Bank Transfer work with all banks?
Currently it works with most major UK banks, and we’re always adding more.
How do I use Pay With Bank Transfer to pay my Amex bill?
Paying with Pay With Bank Transfer is simple:
Select “Pay With Bank Transfer” as your payment method
Choose the payment amount
Confirm the payment date (payments can only be made on the same day)
Select your bank from the list
Accept the user Disclosure
We will redirect you to your bank’s webpage or app for you to log in and authenticate as you normally would for online banking
Approve the pre-filled payment details.
That’s it! There’s no account setup or Card details required, and if you have your bank’s app installed on your phone, you can quickly authenticate using your passcode or biometrics.
What do I need to have in order to use Pay With Bank Transfer?
All you need to use Pay With Bank Transfer is a UK bank account with one of our supported banks (most major and challenger banks). You will also need to have online banking enabled for your account.
Where will I see the transaction reflected?
The transaction will be reflected on your bank statement issued by the bank you selected to make the payment from.
Is there a limit to how much I can pay via Pay With Bank Transfer?
Each bank sets its own transaction limits so it’s best to check with your provider directly if you’re not sure.
How quickly are payments made via Pay With Bank Transfer completed?
Your payment will be sent via Faster Payments, and will typically be completed within a few minutes.
When will I see a Pay With Bank Transfer payment reflect in my Amex Account balance and available credit?
As soon as we’ve received your payment, which typically happens within a few minutes.
