If you haven’t already done so, you can activate your Credit Card and register for Online Services at the same time. Follow just a few steps to activate your Credit Card.

When you Activate your Credit Card, you will be asked you create a customer password, which you may need to quote when calling us to discuss sensitive Account information.
If you didn’t select your own PIN during the application process, you’ll receive a letter by post enclosing an auto generated PIN. For security reasons, this will be sent separately from your Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card and should arrive within 10 business days from approval. Forgotten your PIN? You can remind yourself of the PIN you selected during the application process or view your autogenerated PIN via the Amex App or by logging in to your Online Services Account, clicking ‘Account Management’, ‘Card management’ and ‘View PIN’ or by visiting americanexpress.co.uk/PIN
Changing your PIN
You can also change your PIN to something more memorable or unlock it should you need to via the Amex App or your Online Services Account. Alternatively, you can do so at any of the UK LINK cash machines.
Please be aware, to complete the PIN change you will need to activate your NEW PIN by using your OLD PIN one last time in your next Chip & PIN transaction. Once your Credit Card is inserted into the payment terminal, and your OLD PIN is entered one last time, we will be able to write your NEW PIN onto the chip of your Credit Card.
Managing your PIN online
When managing your PIN online you will be required to enter both the 4-digit Card Identification number (CID) located just above the Account number on the front of your Credit Card and your Customer Password, which is the 4-digit password used when calling Customer Services. You have the opportunity to set up your Customer Password
when activating your Card online. If you haven’t already registered for Online Services, you can do so here.

View the options to load your American Express Card to your mobile device. Once you’re all setup, just look for the Contactless symbol and tap to pay using your mobile device in-store. You can also use your wallet to pay in-app and on the web.
Apple Pay lets you make secure and quick payments using your iPhone or Apple watch. Just visit the ‘Wallet’ app on your iPhone to get started.4
Amex Pay is the simple way to make mobile payments in-store using an Android device. Simply add your Card to Amex Pay through the Amex App to get started.5
Google Pay allows you to pay on the go in-store or in-app using your Android device. Simply add your Card through the Google Pay app to get started.
Samsung Pay allows you to make everyday purchases in-store or in-app using your Samsung device. Simply add your Card through the Samsung Pay app to get started.

Card Identification number (CID)
Your 4-digit Card Identification number is an added security feature to help protect you against fraud. Your 4-digit Card Identification number can be found on the front of your Credit Card, towards the right, and printed flat (unlike the Credit Card number). You may be asked for this number during phone and online transactions.
As a new Cardmember, we want you to feel confident shopping online with your Credit Card. SafeKey uses the latest 3D® Secure technology to help protect you against fraud when you’re online6.
During the checkout process when you’re shopping online with participating retailers, the SafeKey box will appear to remind you that we’re checking your spending patterns, to make sure you’re the person making the purchase on your Credit Card.
Sometimes we will send you an additional verification request by text, email or push
notification so we can check it's you making the purchase.
You will also be given the option to create your Express List. Express List is a personalised list of American Express approved merchants you frequently shop at during your online checkout. By selecting merchants, you won’t need to receive verification requests when you shop there, unless we need to confirm it's you making the purchase.
Register for fraud alerts and should we spot something unusual in your spending patterns, we’ll send you an alert by SMS and/or email instantly. Simply reply with a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to verify if it was a purchase you authorised.
Your American Express Card gives you the freedom to pay off your balance over several months or all at once. So you have the flexibility you need while continuing to earn points on your purchases.
How does a Credit Card work?
A key benefit of a Credit Card is its flexibility, you can purchase things now and pay for them in the future either in one go or in monthly installments. When you opened your Credit Card Account, you were given a credit limit which is the maximum amount you can spend. You can find out what your credit limit is, by checking the letter we sent you with your new Credit Card attached to it or by checking your balance online at americanexpress.co.uk. It’s important to remember that if you don’t pay off your balance in full every month then you will be charged interest until full repayment has been received. You can see your interest rate in your Terms and Conditions.
You can decide how much of your balance to pay off but we would recommend you pay off as much of your balance as possible.
We will require you to make a minimum payment each month. You can see how your minimum due is calculated in the Summary Box, which is in your statement.

Managing your Account
You can view your latest statement and payment due date online by registering for Online Services. To ensure your payment due date is set to one convenient for you, you may contact Customer Services to discuss changing the date your statement is sent each month. If your Account is currently overdue for payment it will need to be up to date before requesting any change.

Your payment due date
Your payment due date will be 25 days after your first statement is produced. You won’t see a payment due date on your Online Account until this happens, we will notify you through your chosen communication method when your statement is available.
There are many ways to pay your bill in an efficient, secure way. Take your pick from the options below.
It's fast and simple to pay your bill online using a debit card. Log in to your Online Services Account to make a payment.
A Direct Debit automatically makes your payments each month, so you don't have to keep remembering to do it. Set it up online once you’ve registered for Online Services, by going to ‘Payments’ in the navigation bar, selecting ‘Direct Debit’ and following the instructions. If your current statement has already been produced, you will need to make a manual payment of this as your Direct Debit will only be effective from your next statement date.
You can pay your bill in person at a bank either by bank giro, using the payment slip provided on your statement or by cheque. Please write your Account number on the back of your cheque.
From balance updates to payment reminders, our wide range of alerts can help you keep on top of your Account. You can manage the alerts yourself online, or you can let us know when you register for Online Services if you want to receive alerts on your mobile or by email. You can even place your Account alerts on hold when travelling, or change the time zone in which they arrive.
Apply for a complimentary Supplementary Card for a family member or someone close to you and you’ll earn points for virtually everything they purchase on their Card7.
This is one of the fastest ways to boost the amount of points you earn. So when it comes to treating yourself, you’ll really notice the difference.
You are entitled to up to 99 complimentary Supplementary Cards on Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card, subject to approval. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over. If approved, you will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember.
If your Credit Card is lost, stolen, damaged or not received you can order a replacement Credit Card for yourself or your additional Cardmembers on your Account quickly and securely using your Online Services Account. If your Credit Card is lost, stolen or not received we will cancel your Credit Card immediately and send a replacement Credit Card to you. If your Credit Card is in your possession and is damaged you can continue using your Credit Card until your replacement arrives. If you have your Credit Card with you but do not have an Account, you can set up an Online Account in just a few steps.
