Q. What are Online Statements?
A. Online Statements allow Cardmembers to view, save and print monthly their Card account statements online from the American Express® website. Online Statements are presented in Adobe® PDF format.
You can choose to use Online Statements instead of paper statements for both Personal and Corporate Cards. Your paper statements will no longer be sent to you and you'll receive an email from American Express advising that your Card account statement is ready to view online.
Please ensure you update your email address on our website to receive this monthly email notification. By logging onto American Express' secure site, you can view your statement anywhere, anytime while protecting the financial information and enjoying peace of mind.
Q. Which Cards are eligible for Online Statements?
A. All Cards issued by American Express (Personal and Corporate) are eligible for Online Statements, and you can choose to use Online Statements instead of getting paper statements.
Q. I have more then one American Express Cards. Can I just choose Online Statements for one of my linked accounts?
A. Yes, you can choose to select the Online Statement functionality for either one or all of your Cards.
Q. If I choose the Online Statement option for one of my Cards, would it by default be selected for the linked Cards?
A. No, you will have to manually select the Online Statement option for each of your Cards separately.
Q. Can I have a separate email address for each of my linked accounts?
A. Yes, you can update a separate email address for each of your linked accounts and the alerts will be sent accordingly to the email you have chosen for the respective Card account.
Q. How do I enroll for paperless statements and turn my paper statements off?
A. Simple: Select the Card for which you will use Online Statements instead of receiving paper statements, accept the terms and conditions, and provide your email address to enable us to send you an e-mail alert when your statement is ready. Alternatively, you can call us on the number given on the back of your Card to get the paperless statements activated and paper statement deactivated.
Q. Can American Express arrange this for me?
A. Yes, you can request for your Online Statements to be activated by calling us on the helpline number given on the back of your Card.
Q. Can I switch back to paper statements?
A. Yes, you can switch back to your paper statements by logging into Online Services, clicking the 'Online Statements' link and selecting 'paper statements'. Alternatively, you can call us on the helpline number given on the back of your Card to get the paper statements re-activated.
Q. When will my Online Statement be available?
A. The day after your statement period ends you will receive email notification that your statement is ready to view. You do have the option to view the unbilled charges at any given time.
Q. Do I have to supply my email address?
A. Yes, it is mandatory to supply us with your email address in order to activate the Online Statements. This is required to notify you when your statement is ready to view. You'll receive an email from American Express advising that your Card account statement is ready to view online.
Q. Are Online Statements a legal document and can I use them for verification purposes?
A. Yes. American Express Online Statements are identical to paper statements, and provide all the information required by law. You can take a printout of the Online Statements and use it in the same way as paper statements. This includes verifying transactions listed on the statement to ensure that they are correct.
Please advise us within 60 days of the statement date in case of any discrepancy, omission or error in the statement, especially if you feel that you have not authorized the transaction or the transaction may be fraudulent.
Q. Can I save my Online Statements?
A. Yes. Just click the "View/Download" link, click the "Save" button when prompted and choose a folder on your hard drive.
Q. Can I print my Online Statement?
A. Yes. When your statement opens in Adobe Reader™, simply click the "Print" button on the toolbar, or click "Print" under the "File" menu.
Q. How do I change my email address?
A. You can update your email address via the 'Manage Your Account' link on the American Express website. Select 'Change E-mail Address' from the available links and change the email address.
Q. Will I be able to view Online Statements if my account is cancelled?
A. No. The web enrolment is cancelled on Card cancellation.
Q. Can I view all my past statements online?
A. You will be able to immediately view your statements for the last 6 months and you have the ability to view older statements within 24 hours by recalling them on the American Express Website.
Q. Is it safe to view statements online?
A. Yes, it's safe to view statements online as you log in to American Express's Secured website and your account is secure. Security is one of the greatest benefits of Online Statements. By logging onto American Express' secure site, Cardmembers can receive their statement anywhere, anytime while protecting their financial information and enjoying peace of mind
Q. Do I need to download any software in order to view statements online?
A.Yes, you need the Adobe's Acrobat Reader in order to view your statements online. Adobe acrobat reader can be downloaded for free from www.adobe.com.
