Adding an additional1 Card to your Account lets you share the benefits and convenience of your American Express® Card with family or friends. You'll share one Account, all rewards earned from additional Card spend will go into your primary Account and your additional Cardmembers will have access to some of the benefits you love, like Amex Offers.

1. Click Add a Cardmember below to start your Application and log into your Online Account.
2. Complete and submit your application. If we need any more information we'll let you know.
3. Once your additional Cardmember has their Card, they'll need to activate it and set up their own Online Account.

Note that additional Cards are also described as Supplementary Cards. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over with a permanent UK address, and is subject to approval. If approved, you (the primary Cardmember) will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember.
Can I apply for any American Express Card to be my additional Card?
For most American Express Accounts you can only apply for the same additional Card as your primary Card Account. For example, if you hold The Gold Card, you can only apply for the Gold additional Card. For Platinum Cardmembers, you can add one free Platinum additional Card and up to 4 more for a fee.
Do my additional Cardmembers need to activate their Card?
Once received, additional Cardmembers need to activate their Card by creating their own unique login at americanexpress.com/uk/activate and register for Online Services to be able to manage their Card (online or via the Amex App).
How will my additional Cardmembers receive their Card?
The additional Card will be delivered to the primary Cardmember via post, within 3-5 business days of the application being approved.
Can my additional Cardmembers earn points/cashback?
All points/cashback earned from the spend made by additional Cardmembers will be directly credited to the primary Cardmember’s account (provided you are enrolled in a points/cashback program). Both the primary and additional Cardmembers will earn points/cashback at the same rate.
Who is responsible for the spend (and payment) of my additional Cards?
The primary Cardmember is liable for payment of all spend made by additional Cardmembers.
How can I check the balance of an additional Card?
You can check the balance of your additional Cards anytime via your online Account, or on your monthly statement. All spend made by additional Cardmembers will be clearly stated on your statement and online Account.
How does my additional Card use Amex Offers?
Your Supplementary Cardholder will have access to the Amex Offers programme. In order for them to use an Offer, they (Supplementary Cardholder) must save the Offer to their own Card. To do this, they can go to the American Express App, find an offer in the Offers tab and click "Save to Card." For more information, please visit 13. Rewards Cards
3. The first Supplementary Card is free on The Gold Card, subject to approval. Any extra Supplementary Cards you add thereafter will be charged at £45 each per year. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over. If approved, you will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember.
4. 2,500 bonus Membership Rewards points will be awarded to your Account for each £5,000 of purchases you make within the 12-month period ending on the anniversary of your American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Cardmembership. This is subject to a limit of 12,500 bonus Membership Rewards points. Each bonus of 2,500 bonus Membership Rewards points will be awarded to your Account within 90 days of the charges from the corresponding purchases being posted to your Account. The following charges are not valid charges for the purpose of calculating your spend accrual towards this bonus in a given year: interest, fees (including default fees), balance transfers, cash advances (including transactions treated as cash), loading of pre-paid Cards, American Express Travellers Cheque purchases or foreign exchange transactions; and any amounts that are subsequently re-credited to your Card Account by way of refunds. 5. The bonus Membership Rewards points offer is valid for the first approved Supplementary Gold Card only. Please note, in rare circumstances it may take up to 90 days for the 3,000 Membership Rewards points to be applied to your Account. You may apply for several Supplementary Cards but you will only receive the 3,000 Membership Rewards points for the first approved Card. You will not receive this bonus if you have ever received it before. This offer is subject to change and may be withdrawn at any time.
6. The bonus Membership Rewards points offer is valid for the first approved Supplementary Platinum Card only. Please note, in rare circumstances it may take up to 90 days for the 5,000 Membership Rewards points to be applied to your Account. You may apply for several Supplementary Cards but you will only receive the 5,000 Membership Rewards points for the first approved Card. You will not receive this bonus if you have ever received it before. This offer is subject to change and may be withdrawn at anytime.
7. The first Platinum Supplementary Card is provided at no additional charge. An annual fee of £285 applies to each Platinum Supplementary Card. You may also be eligible for Green or Gold Supplementary Cards, which are £170 annually beyond those provided at no additional charge.
8. Complimentary lounge access is only valid for Platinum Supplementary Cardmembers.

10. Your American Express Cardmembership fee includes two complimentary Supplementary Cards with further Supplementary Cards charged at £17.50 per person. Your Supplementary Cardmembers can earn points on your Account and enjoy many of the same great Card benefits and protections that you do. Subject to application and approval. Supplementary Cards are issued under and subject to the Terms and Conditions of your existing Cardmember Agreement, and as the primary Cardmember, you will be responsible for paying all charges on any Supplementary Cards which are added to your Account. Supplementary Cardmembers must be aged 18 or over.
11. The bonus Membership Rewards points offer is valid for the first approved Supplementary Green Card only. Please note, in rare circumstances it may take up to 90 days for the 2,000 Membership Rewards points to be applied to your Account. You may apply for several Supplementary Cards but you will only receive the 2,000 Membership Rewards points for the first Approved Card. 12. Up to 2 Supplementary Cards are complimentary on the American Express Rewards Credit Card, subject to approval. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over. If approved, you will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember.
Avios Cards
13. Up to 99 Supplementary Cards are complimentary on the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card, subject to approval. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over. 14. The bonus Avios offer is valid for the first approved Supplementary British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card only. Please note, in rare circumstances it may take up to 90 days for the 3,000 bonus Avios to be applied to your Account. Cashback Cards
17. You are entitled to up to 99 complimentary Supplementary Cards on either the Platinum Cashback Credit Card or the Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card, subject to approval. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over. If approved, you will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember.
18. Bonus cashback offer valid for the first approved Supplementary Platinum Cashback Credit Card or Supplementary Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card only. Please note, in rare circumstances it may take up to 90 days for the £5 cashback to be applied to your Account. You may apply for multiple Supplementary Cards but you will only receive the £5 cashback bonus once. You will not receive this bonus if you have ever received it before. This offer is subject to change and may be withdrawn at anytime. If you hold the Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card you must have made purchases on your Card Account of at least £3000 within the Cardmembership year in order to receive your cashback.
Partnership Cards
19. You are entitled to up to 99 complimentary Supplementary Cards on The Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Credit Card, subject to approval. Supplementary Cards can be requested for anyone aged 18 or over. If approved, you will be responsible for any spending on your Account made by the Supplementary Cardmember.
20. The bonus Marriott Bonvoy® points offer is valid for the first approved Supplementary Marriott Bonvoy® Card only.
